We review recent theoretical progress in the understanding of the topological Kondo effect in Coulomb-blockaded Majorana devices and generalizations thereof. The central ingredient in Majorana devices is the so-called Majorana box which encodes a spin-1/2 degree of freedom in the Majorana subspace that can be addressed by electron cotunneling processes.

Nonuniversality in the Kondo effect
Physical Review Letters, 1992We have analytically evaluated, up to fourth order, all logarithmic terms in the perturbation expansion of the magnetization scrM for the Kondo model. All nonlogarithmic terms have been evaluated up to third order. When these results are compared with the claimed universal function scrM(H/${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{H}}$) calculated with the Bethe ansatz ...

Spin-current Kondo effect: Kondo effect in the presence of spin accumulation
Physical Review B, 2021We present a detailed theoretical description of the influence of the spin accumulation in metallic Fermi leads on the Kondo effect in systems such as quantum dots and Kondo alloys. We discuss an interplay of the spin accumulation, magnetic field, and ferromagnetic leads spin polarization on the Kondo spin-dependent densities of states, conductance ...

The periodics-d-model is investigated by Green function methods. We find that the lnT-divergence appearing in third order perturbation theory for the electron selfenergy is smoothed out but still shows up in a characteristic decrease (exchange couplingγ 0) of lifetime of electrons at the fermi level asT→0 and a corresponding structure in the specific ...

The Kondo Effect in the Presence of Ferromagnetism
Science, 2004We measured Kondo-assisted tunneling via C 60 molecules in contact with ferromagnetic nickel electrodes. Kondo correlations persisted despite the presence of ferromagnetism, but the Kondo peak in the differential conductance was split by an amount that decreased (even to zero) as the moments in the two electrodes ...

Kondo effect in disordered systems
Physical Review Letters, 1992We consider a system of dilute magnetic impurities placed in a disordered metal, and examine the modifications of the Kondo temperature T k due to the presence of disorder. Our calculations, based on a slave-boson approach, show that the probability distribution P(T k ) for Kondo temperatures can be related to the local-density-of-states fluctuations ...

Effect of pressure on Kondo insulators
Physical Review B, 1996We introduce a formulation of heavy-fermion systems under applied pressure, in which the cell-volume change resulting from the valence fluctuation between the f singlet and magnetic multiplet accounts for the pressure dependence of the energy gap in Kondo insulators.

Kondo effect in a Luttinger liquid
Physical Review Letters, 1992We treat the Kondo effect in one-dimensional interacting systems. We find that for repulsive interaction and off half filling, the Kondo temperature ${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{K}}$\ensuremath{\propto}(J${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\tau}}}_{0}$${)}^{2/\mathrm{\ensuremath{\eta}}}$, where \ensuremath{\eta} is the nonuniversal spin-density-wave exponent of the host ...
