In this study, Abderaz Formation at six stratigraphical sections, in east and center of the Kopeh-Dagh sedimentary basin, has been investigated, based on biserial planktonic foraminifera. Totally, 831 samples, with 3 meter distance, were gathered from a sequence with 2800 meter thickness. Also 4 genera and 17 species of biserial planktonic foraminifera

Attenuation Models for Estimation of Vertical Peak Ground Acceleration Based on PSO Algorithm for the North of Iran [PDF]
Peak ground acceleration (PGA) is a critical parameter in ground-motion investigations, in particular in earthquake-prone areas such as Iran. In the current study, a new method based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) is developed to obtain an ...

Abstract The landscape of the Talesh Mountains, located in the NW sector of the Iranian Plateau (within the Arabia‐Eurasia collision zone), results from the interplay of multiple forces. To explore the interaction between tectonics, climate, and lithology we present 11 new erosion rates derived from meteoric 10Be on the eastern (wetter) and western ...

A declustered earthquake catalog for the Iranian Plateau [PDF]
A unified catalog of earthquakes in Iran and adjacent regions (the area bounded in 22º-42ºN and 42º-66ºE) covering the period of 4th century B.C. through 2012 with Mw≥4 is provided. The catalog includes all events for which magnitude have been determined

Multifractal characterization of seismicity: the case of Carterbury region (New Zealand), 2000 -2018 [PDF]
The Multifractal Detrended Fluctuation (MF-DF) algorithm is applied to measure the complexity of two time series, the inter-event hypocentral distance Δδ(t), and the inter-event time series Δτ(t) In particular, we apply this methodology to the seismic

Abstract The Kyzylkum Desert, as a transition area of different dust source in Central Asia, provides and reserves a large amount of dust transported by different atmospheric circulation systems, affecting Uzbekistan and downwind East Asia. However, there remains very few investigations about sediment sources and control factors of the desert.

A comprehensive review of HVS‐I mitochondrial DNA variation of 19 Iranian populations
Abstract Iran is located along the Central Asian corridor, a natural artery that has served as a cross‐continental route since the first anatomically modern human populations migrated out of Africa. We compiled and reanalyzed the HVS‐I (hypervariable segment‐I) of 3840 mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequences from 19 Iranian populations and from 26 groups ...

Investigating the Reliability of Ground Motion Intensity Measures
The uncertainty and unreliability in the probabilistic seismic demand models (PSDMs) can be addressed in the framework of performance‐based earthquake engineering (PBEE). Some characteristics have been introduced and extensively investigated in the earthquake engineering literature for appropriateness (i.e., optimality) of various intensity measures ...

Permian–Triassic magmatism in response to Palaeotethys subduction and pre-Late Triassic arrival of northeast Gondwana-derived continental fragments at the southern Eurasian margin: detrital zircon evidence from Triassic sandstones of Central Iran [PDF]
The closure of Palaeotethys that led to the collision of the Cimmerian blocks with the southern Eurasian margin causing the Eo-Cimmerian orogeny during the Early Mesozoic is still controversially discussed. The Triassic Nakhlak Group in Central Iran is a
