Effect of Acacia melanoxylon wood density on papermaking potential [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this work we study the behaviour in kraft cooking and papermaking of 6 Acacia melanoxylon wood chip samples, with basic densities of 449, 489, 493, 505, 514 and 616 kg/m3. The wood chip samples were screened and submitted to the kraft cooking process.

Structural alterations of lignins in transgenic poplars with depressed cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase or caffeic acid O-methyltransferase activity have an opposite impact on the efficiency of industrial kraft pulping [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
International audienceWe evaluated lignin profiles and pulping performances of 2-year-old transgenic poplar (Populus tremula × Populus alba) lines severely altered in the expression of caffeic acid/5-hydroxyferulic acidO-methyltransferase (COMT) or ...

Studies on the Strength of Kraft Paper

open access: yesJAPAN TAPPI JOURNAL, 1961
The repeated-impulse testing like the drop testing was discussed in these studies. The principle of the repeated-impulse testing was that a weight was dropped from a constant height and the energy of it was given the tested paper repeatedly. The relation between the repeated-impulse testing and the mechanical properties of paper was also discussed. The ...

Bulky Paper from Chemically Crosslinked Hardwood Kraft Pulp Fibers

open access: yesJAPAN TAPPI JOURNAL, 2015
Chemical crosslinking of hardwood kraft pulp fibres stabilize physical shape and structure of the fibres by forming water resistant covalent chemical bonds between cellulose molecules. In paper and board making chemically crosslinked fibers are less prone to swelling and deformation.
