Kinetic Assessment of Kraft and Thermally Upgraded Kraft Papers Aged in Five Alternative Dielectric Fluids

open access: yesPolymers
The lifespan of an electrical transformer, primarily determined by the condition of its solid insulation, is well known under various operating conditions when mineral oil is the coolant in these machines. However, there is a trend toward replacing this oil with biodegradable fluids, especially esters; therefore, an understanding of the ageing of solid

Pulp and paper production from Spruce wood with kraft and modified kraft methods

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Biotechnology, 2010
In this study, kraft and modified kraft pulping methods were applied for spruce (Picea orientalis) wood collected from the Black Sea Region of Turkey. Fiber properties, carbohydrate contents, strength and optical properties of resultant paper were included to determine the properties of these pulp samples.

On Kant's first insight into the problem of space dimensionality and its physical foundations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this article it is shown that a careful analysis of Kant's "Thoughts on the True Estimation of Living Forces" leads to a conclusion that does not match the usually accepted interpretation of Kant's reasoning in 1747, according to which the Young Kant ...

Development of a co‐culture of Ureibacillus thermosphaericus and Cupriavidus taiwanensis for inhibitors removal from hemicellulose prehydrolysate

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
For biofuels production, hemicellulose pre‐hydrolysate is considered as an attractive feedstock rich in fermentable sugars. The pre‐hydrolysate derived from lignocellulosic biomass comprises, along with sugars, several inhibitors which can hamper its efficient conversion.

Exploring the Profile of Online Gamblers: Key Factors and the Role of Smartphone Addiction in Long‐Term Gambling Engagement

open access: yesJournal of Consumer Behaviour, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rapid expansion of online gambling has significantly impacted the gambling industry. However, concerns have arisen regarding how psychosocial factors and excessive smartphone use influence user behavior on online gambling platforms, which has highlighted the need for broader and long‐term studies. More nationally representative studies are

Valorization of Yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius) peel for peroxidase production and its immobilization on alginate beads for 2,4‐dichlorophenol bioconversion

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Sodium alginate was modified with EDC/NHS for the immobilization of Yacon peel peroxidase, resulting in a novel biocatalyst for the oxidation of 2,4‐dichlorophenol. Abstract Yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius) roots are emerging as an alternative source of peroxidase. This study aimed to extract, immobilize, and characterize the peroxidase from Yacon peel,
