The Role of Hemicelluloses in the Hornification of Bleached Kraft Pulps

Holzforschung, 1997
During recycling of chemical pulps, deterioration of pulp properties occurs due to hornification. This phenomenon is caused by irreversible structural changes taking place during drying. In this work, the role of pulp hemicelluloses in the hornification process of kraft pulps produced by different cooking and bleaching methods was investigated.

Exergy and Pinch Analyses of Kraft Pulp Mill

1993
To locate areas with inefficient use of energy in kraft pulp mill, specific methods using exergy analysis and pinch technology have been developed and utilized. A static and modular simulation model has been developed to perform exergy analysis of every area of a mill.

Enzymes in bleaching of kraft pulp: Dissertation

1992
Cellulose pulp produced by the kraft pulping process is the predominant raw material for production of paper. Although most of the wood lignin is removed during kraft pulping the residual brown coloured lignin must be removed and the brightness of the pulp increased in a multistage bleaching processes prior to paper production.

An Example of Planning for Pollution Control in Kraft Pulping

Journal of the Air Pollution Control Association, 1966
Two factors have contributed to the preparation of this paper. The first stemmed from Morton Sterling’s remarks in his address to the Houston Meeting. Therein he suggested the value of industry making public the progress made in overcoming pollution problems.

Production of high yield bleached hardwood kraft pulp: Breaking the kraft pulp yield barrier

TAPPI Journal, 2011
A modified kraft pulping process has been developed that successfully breaks the traditional hardwood kraft pulp yield barrier. The process produces fully bleached, high brightness hardwood kraft pulp with a yield of greater than 53% on wood. Details of the development and processing steps, along with various recovery cycle impacts, are discussed.

Hemicellulases in the bleaching and characterisation of kraft pulps: Dissertation

1996
Enzyme-aided bleaching of kraft pulps is the major industrial application of hemicellulases in pulp processing. In this work, the role of xylanase and mannanase pretreatments in the ECF and TCF bleaching of softwood pulps produced by different sulphate cooking methods was studied.
