Study of Optical Properties of NiO and Ni0.92Zn0.08O Thin Films Prepared by Pulsed Laser Deposition via Kramers–Kronig Analysis

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Pure Science
NiO and Ni0.92Zn0.08O thin films were deposited onto glass substrates using pulsed laser deposition in vacuum. The optical properties were investigated using the Kramers-Kronig relations, with the phase shift angle computed numerically in MATLAB.

Optical properties of ternary alloys MgZnO in infrared spectrum

open access: yesSemiconductor Physics, Quantum Electronics & Optoelectronics, 2018
Properties of thin films of ternary alloys Mg х Zn 1–х O on the optically-anisotropic Al 2 O 3 substrates in the area of “residual rays” of film and substrate are first investigated using the method of infrared spectroscopy and dispersion analysis of ...

Generalization of the Passivity Criterion for One-Port Devices Presenting Negative Real Part Admittances

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
The physical validation of devices must comply with the principles of causality, passivity, and stability. For linear and time-invariant devices, it can be proved that passivity implies a causal transfer function.

Active material, optical mode and cavity impact on nanoscale electro-optic modulation performance

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2017
Electro-optic modulation is a key function in optical data communication and possible future optical compute engines. The performance of modulators intricately depends on the interaction between the actively modulated material and the propagating ...

On the Kramers-Kronig relations for interstellar polarization

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1975
The difficulties encountered in using the Kramers-Kronig relations to predict the behavior of interstellar polarization are pointed out, while at the same time their value in an interpretive role is acknowledged. Observations of interstellar circular polarization lead to restrictions on the interstellar grain composition, and additional constraints ...

Thermal pseudo-entropy

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
In this work, we develop a generalisation of the thermal entropy to complex inverse temperatures, which we call the thermal pseudo-entropy. We show that this quantity represents the pseudo-entropy of the transition matrix between Thermofield Double ...

Dispersive effects in ultrafast nonlinear phenomena: The case of optical Kerr effect

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
It is a basic principle that an effect cannot come before the cause. Dispersive relations that follow from this fundamental fact have proven to be an indispensable tool in physics and engineering.
