Optimizing Flood Hazard Zonation and Planning Landscape‐Based Mitigation Measures in Gimba Sub Watersheds, Northeastern Ethiopia: A Comprehensive Approach

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, Volume 19, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Flooding remains one of the most critical natural hazards threatening livelihoods, infrastructure, and ecological systems in Ethiopia's highland landscapes. This study presents a rigorously integrated, multi‐criteria flood risk assessment that combines the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) with GIS‐based spatial modeling to delineate ...

Monotonicity-Preserving Bootstrapped Kriging Metamodels for Expensive Simulations [PDF]

open access: yes
Kriging (Gaussian process, spatial correlation) metamodels approximate the Input/Output (I/O) functions implied by the underlying simulation models; such metamodels serve sensitivity analysis and optimization, especially for computationally expensive ...

Efficient Gradient‐Enhanced Bayesian Optimizer with Comparisons to Conjugate‐Gradient and Quasi‐Newton Optimizers for Unconstrained Local Optimization

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
ABSTRACT The probabilistic surrogates used by Bayesian optimizers make them popular methods when function evaluations are noisy or expensive to evaluate. While Bayesian optimizers are traditionally used for global optimization, their benefits are also valuable for local optimization.

Reliability-based design optimization of shells with uncertain geometry using adaptive Kriging metamodels

open access: yes, 2017
Optimal design under uncertainty has gained much attention in the past ten years due to the ever increasing need for manufacturers to build robust systems at the lowest cost.

Variable Flood Discharge Constrains Autochthonous Organic Carbon Preservation in Deltas: Insights From Physical Experiments

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 3, 16 February 2026.
Abstract Many global and regional climate models predict shifts in the frequency and magnitude of precipitation events. It is unclear how this transition will influence delta and wetland development. We address this knowledge gap via two reduced‐scale physical delta experiments: one with constant discharge and the other with variable discharge.

Investigating Anthropogenic and Social Influences on Diet of Semi‐Urban Vervet Monkeys Using DNA Metabarcoding

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
We used eDNA metabarcoding of faecal samples to quantify the dietary composition of two vervet monkey populations in a semi‐urban environment in South Africa over a 4‐month period, and compared these results with visual observations. We found that both methods yielded similar results, but eDNA metabarcoding revealed a greater diversity of consumed taxa.

New methods provide a 300‐year perspective on modern area burned in two wilderness areas of the southwest United States

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 17, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Climate change, expanding human ignitions, and increased fuels from fire exclusion are driving increases in area burned and fire severity in dry conifer forests of the western United States. Increasing area burned is occurring against the backdrop of a large fire deficit caused by over a century of fire exclusion.

Fortsat krige?

open access: yesSlagmark - Tidsskrift for idéhistorie, 2018

Optimization in Conceptual Design of a BWB UAV Using an Adaptive Kriging‐Based Surrogate Model

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 2, February 2026.
An adaptive Kriging‐based framework for Blended Wing Body UAV optimization is presented. The exploitation‐oriented strategy yields a 14.5% range improvement, while sensitivity analysis identifies fuel mass as the dominant parameter for efficient conceptual design. ABSTRACT To improve optimization efficiency in the conceptual design of Blended Wing Body
