A joint kriging model with application to constrained classification

open access: yesStatistics and Computing
Interpolating or predicting data is of utmost importance in machine learning, and Gaussian Process Regression is one of the numerous techniques that are often used in practice. In this paper, we consider the case of multi-input and multi-output data. A simple Joint Kriging model is proposed, where common combination weights are applied to all output ...

Epistemic and aleatoric uncertainty quantification in weather and climate models

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Aleatoric and epistemic uncertainties over time on weather and climate time‐scales, estimated through ensembles that sample aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty using Bayesian neural networks for parameterisations in the Lorenz 1996 model. The spread shows the 16th and 84th percentiles.

Site Characterization Model Using Support Vector Machine and Ordinary Kriging

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Systems, 2011
In the present study, ordinary kriging and support vector machine (SVM) have been used to develop three dimensional site characterization model of an alluvial site based on standard penetration test (SPT) results.

Kriging Method Optimization for the Process of DTM Creation Based on Huge Data Sets Obtained from MBESs

open access: yesGeosciences, 2018
The paper presents an optimized method of digital terrain model (DTM) estimation based on modified kriging interpolation. Many methods are used for digital terrain model creation; the most popular methods are: inverse distance weighing, nearest neighbour,

Deep Reinforcement Learning‐Based Control for Real‐Time Hybrid Simulation of Civil Structures

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Real‐time Hybrid Simulation (RTHS) is a cyber‐physical technique that studies the dynamic behavior of a system by combining physical and numerical components that are coupled through a boundary condition enforcer. In structural engineering, the numerical components are subjected to environmental loads that become dynamic displacements of the ...

Facies-Constrained Kriging Interpolation Method for Parameter Modeling

open access: yesRemote Sensing
In seismic exploration, establishing a reliable parameter model (such as velocity, density, impedance) is crucial for seismic migration imaging and reservoir characterization.

CFD-Based Metamodeling of the Propagation Distribution of Styrene Spilled from a Ship

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The present study aimed to numerically establish a new metamodel for predicting the propagation distribution of styrene, which is one of the hazardous and noxious substances (HNSs) spilled from ships.

Using Airborne Laser Scanning and Sentinel‐2 to Understand Subcanopy Light Regimes and Understory Diversity of Vascular Plants in Temperate Mountain Forests

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that not just Airborne Laser Scanning, but also Sentinel‐2 can effectively estimate absolute canopy cover and canopy cover heterogeneity ‐ structural metrics that determine the subcanopy light regime, found to be linked to the vascular plant species richness in the understory of temperate mountain forests.

Investigation of Spatial Variation of Some Soil Properties Using Geostatistical Methods (Case study: Margon Town, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, Iran) [PDF]

open access: yesمحیط زیست و مهندسی آب
The aim of this study was to investigate the spatial variation of some soil properties such as soil texture, organic carbon content, soil pH and electrical conductivity (EC) using geostatistical methods in Margon town, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province,

Bath Vibration During Open Eye Formation in a Physical Model of a Steelmaking Ladle

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Using a physical model, this study shows that vibration measurements reliably predict open eye size in steelmaking ladles, offering a practical alternative to visual monitoring. Vessel vibrations stabilize faster than the open eye, except at high frequencies near the bottom.
