Abstract Subgrid parameterizations of mesoscale eddies continue to be in demand for climate simulations. These subgrid parameterizations can be powerfully designed using physics and/or data‐driven methods, with uncertainty quantification. For example, Guillaumin and Zanna (2021, https://doi.org/10.1029/2021ms002534) proposed a Machine Learning (ML ...

Joint waveform and precoding design for coexistence of MIMO radar and MU‐MISO communication
Abstract The joint design problem for the coexistence of multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) radar and multi‐user multiple‐input‐single‐output (MU‐MISO) communication is investigated. Different from the conventional design schemes, which require defining the primary function, we consider designing the transmit waveform, precoding matrix and receive ...

An iterative algorithm for discrete Lyapunov matrix equations
Abstract In this paper, an iterative algorithm is established to solve discrete Lyapunov matrix equations. In this algorithm, a tuning parameter is introduced such that the iterative solution can be updated by using a combination of the information in the last step and the previous step. Some conditions for the convergence of the proposed algorithm are

Effects of stability functions in a dynamic model convective boundary layer simulation
We implement a number of variants of the dynamic model in the UK Met Office Large Eddy Model (MetLEM), including a state of the art Lagrangian‐Averaged‐Scale‐Dependent (LASD) model. The implementation includes optional use of stability functions for convective simulations.

The biaxial stretch blow molding is an established process for manufacturing plastic containers, in which preforms are stretched both in circumferential and axial directions while being blown into a mold. In the development phase of these products, computer‐aided analysis tools are extensively used to increase the material and process efficiency.

Production simulation is an important method to evaluate the stimulation effect of refracturing. Therefore, a production simulation model based on coupled fluid flow and geomechanics in triple continuum including kerogen, an inorganic matrix, and a fracture network is proposed considering the multiscale flow characteristics of shale gas, the induced ...

Refracturing is an encouraging way to uplift gas flow rate and ultimate gas recovery from shale gas wells. A numerical model, considering the stimulated reservoir volume and multiscale gas transport, is applied to simulate the gas production from a refractured shale gas well.

Lung cancer mortality in Tuscany (Italy) for males, from 1971 and 2010, is investigated. A hierarchical Bayesian model for space‐time disease mapping is introduced. Such a model belongs to the class of shared random effect models and exploits the birth‐cohort as the relevant time dimension.
