ISTOČNA OBALA SPLITA – KRONOLOGIJA ZBIVANJA
Istočni dio splitske luke koristi se već od antičkih vremena. U rimsko se doba uvala koju tvore prirodni grebeni koristi kao luka za brodove. U doba autonomne komune (13. - 15. st.) luka se širi, grade se crkvice, lukobrani i prva brodogradilišta. Za venecijanske uprave (16. - 18. st.) ovaj se dio grada utvrđuje te se u njemu grade lazareti.
