The number average degree of polymerization, x̄ n , is preferably expressed in terms of a parameter s = 1/r accounting for the balance between the chain‐splitting moieties and the chain‐merging moieties.

Sun exposure as a main driver influencing the arriving communities of saproxylic beetles on deadwood

Overall higher number of species and abundance on shaded logs compared to sun‐exposed ones. Early in the season, sun‐exposed logs show higher species diversity, but shaded logs become more diverse as the season progresses. Sun‐exposed and shaded logs support distinct species assemblages.
