Active faulting in Sredinny Range, Kamchatka Peninsula

open access: yesВестник Камчатской региональной ассоциации "Учебно-научный центр". Серия: Науки о Земле, 2022
The paper presents the results of remote sensing interpretation of active faults of the Sredinny Range of Kamchatka. The use of remote sensing data allowed us to identify fault scarps and magma-conducting fractures, expressed in the topography by chains ...

The Rikord Submarine Volcanic Massif, Kuril Island Arc

open access: yesJournal of Volcanology and Seismology, 2018
This paper reports a study of the Rikord volcanic massif. The massif consists of four volcanic edifices that coalesce in their bases, and is most likely Quaternary. The massif discharged basaltic and basaltic andesite lavas during its earlier life.

Asperity distribution and earthquake occurrence in the southern Kurile Islands arc [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 1987
The seismicity in the southern Kurile Islands arc is characterized by a complex overlapping of aftershock zones of a few great and many large earthquakes (Ms ≧ 7.0). The spatial relationships of these aftershock zones can be explained in terms of a simple pattern of fault plane heterogeneity.

INTEGRATED GEOLOGIC-GEOPHYSICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE RATMANOV SUBMARINE VOLCANIC MASSIF (KURILE ISLAND ARC) [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of Kamchatka Regional Association «Educational-Scientific Center». Earth Sciences, 2020
The article presents the results of integrated geologic-geophysical investigation of the Ratmanov submarine volcanic massif, located in the Kurile Island Arc, 15 km southeast of the Chirinkotan island. There is a small submarine volcano on the northwestern slope of the massif with a relative height of 400–450 m, dredging of which raised andesites and a
