Extremophilic Microorganisms as a Source of Emerging Enzymes for the Food Industry: A Review

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 1, January 2025.
Enzymes such as amylases, lipases, proteases, xylanases, laccases, pullulanase, chitinases, pectinases, esterases, isomerases, and dehydrogenases could be derived from extremophilic organisms like thermophiles, psychrophiles, acidophiles, alkaliphiles, and halophiles. These enzymes or extremozymes are applicable in the production of safe foods (such as

Herbarium specimens reveal a cryptic invasion of polyploid Centaurea stoebe in Europe

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 245, Issue 1, Page 392-405, January 2025.
Summary Numerous plant species are expanding their native ranges due to anthropogenic environmental change. Because cytotypes of polyploid complexes often show similar morphologies, there may be unnoticed range expansions (i.e. cryptic invasions) of one cytotype into regions where only the other cytotype is native.

Static and fatigue properties of high strength PM-steels

open access: yes, 2022
S.151-156The static, dynamic and fatigue properties of two high-alloyed Fe-(Mo)-Ni-Cu PM steels are compared with two Fe-(Cr,Mo) PM steels. All materials were processed in a typical industrial environment.

Easy‐Curing and pH‐Regulated CRISPR‐Cas9 Plasmids for Gene Editing and Plasmid Curing in Lactococcus cremoris

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 17, Issue 12, December 2024.
In this work, we have developed a plasmid‐based CRISPR‐Cas9 strategy that is highly efficient for plasmid curing and gene‐editing of Lactococcus cremoris. These plasmids allow tunable expression of cas9 and are easily eliminated, enabling the generation of plasmid‐free strains after the desired modification.

PM-induced cytotoxicity.

open access: yes, 2019
PBMC from IGRA- (n = 6) and IGRA+ (n = 6) subjects were exposed in cell culture to 0 (no PM), 0.1, 1 and 10 μg/ml of R2.5, CD2.5, WD2.5, R10, CD10, WD10 at 37ºC, 5% CO2 in a humidified environment for 20 h.

Prospects of Predicting the Polar Motion Based on the Results of the Second Earth Orientation Parameters Prediction Comparison Campaign

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 11, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract Growing interest in Earth Orientation Parameters (EOP) resulted in various approaches to the EOP prediction algorithms, as well as in the exploitation of distinct input data, including the observed EOP values from various operational data centers and modeled effective angular momentum functions.

Computational modelling of mouse atrio ventricular node action potential and automaticity

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 602, Issue 19, Page 4821-4847, 1 October 2024.
Abstract figure legend The abstract figure illustrates the process of creating and validating a new numerical model for a single atrioventricular node (AVN) cell. The steps are as follows: (1) cells from the AVN were isolated from the mice hearts; (2) they underwent patch‐clamp experiments to measure the L‐type calcium current (ICav1.3); (3 ...
