Shearless edge transport barriers in L-H transition
9 pages and 6 figuresThe L-H transition leads to a substantial reduction in transport levels in tokamaks and stellarators, improving the plasma confinement in such devices. After the transition, the plasma is in a high-confinement regime characterized by

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Influence of n = 1 resonant magnetic perturbation on flow and turbulence towards L-H transition
The application of resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) with toroidal mode number n = 1 on HL-3 tokamak inhibits the L-H transition at specific heating power.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

L-H transition studies on spherical tokamaks [PDF]
While the higher fusion power achieved in high confinement (H-)mode make it a desirable regime for tokamak devices, the transition from low confinement (L-)mode to H-mode is a complex, multi-faceted process whose dynamics are still not fully understood ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Dynamics of E-H mode transition in high-pressure RF inductively coupled plasmas [PDF]
Capacitive (E) to inductive (H) mode transition dynamics in radio frequency (RF) argon inductively coupled plasmas (ICPs) with up to atmospheric pressure is studied experimentally. High-speed imaging (13500 fps) is performed to investigate the transition

Ultra-dense hydrogen H(0) with its typical H-H bond distance of 2.3 pm is superfluid at room temperature as expected for quantum fluids. It also shows a Meissner effect at room temperature, which indicates that a transition point to a non-superfluid ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Reduced model for H-mode sustainment in unfavorable drift configuration in ASDEX Upgrade
A recently developed reduced model of H-mode sustainment based on interchange-drift-Alfvén turbulence description in the vicinity of the separatrix matching experimental observations in ASDEX Upgrade has been extended to experiments with the unfavorable $
