Elbaraii, L-Band Radiometer System
IGARSS 2008 - 2008 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2008L-band (1-2 GHz) microwave radiometry is an important remote sensing technique to monitor soil moisture over land surfaces at the global scale. The ESA L-Band SMOS radiometer mission aims at providing as global maps of soil moisture, with accuracy better than 0.04 m3m-3 every 3 days, with a spatial resolution better than 50 km.

L-band measurements of boreal soil
2010 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2010The successful launch of the European Space Agency's (ESA) Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) satellite mission on November 2nd 2009 opened a new era of global monitoring with L-band passive microwave instruments. The main objective of the mission is to measure soil moisture and sea surface salinity globally.

Combining L-Band Radar and Smos L-Band Vod for High Resolution Estimation of Biomass
IGARSS 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2019The vegetation optical depth measured at L-Band (LVOD) by the SMOS satellite provides a high temporal resolution information of the vegetation water content that can be linked to the total above ground biomass (AGB). Nevertheless, its coarse spatial resolution (~ 40 km) can be limiting for a number of applications.

2016 Radio Frequency Interference (RFI), 2016
In recent years, three instruments have been launched into orbit with the aim of producing global maps of sea surface salinity and soil moisture using the 1400–1427 MHz band: SMOS, Aquarius and SMAP. Although this frequency band is allocated to passive measurements only, RFI (Radio-Frequency Interference) is present in the data of all three missions ...

2015 Conference on Microwave Techniques (COMITE), 2015
The paper deals with a modeling and construction of a reflector antenna. Two electronically selected orthogonal antenna planes are realized due to orthogonally oriented ports at primary radiator. Ground clutter suppression is carried out thanks to narrow antenna beam width at elevation plane.

AN L-BAND TUNNEL DIODE OSCILLATOR (INCLUDING L-BAND TRANSISTOR OSCILLATOR-MULTIPLIERS).
1964Abstract : Gallium-Arsenide tunnel diodes having 600 ma peak current and resistive cutoff frequencies of 6 to 10 Gc were developed. The diodes were fabricated in a low inductance package permitting operation at L-band at power outputs up to 30 mw. Low impedance oscillator circuits were designed which gave power outputs of 20 to 30 mw over the required ...

L-Band RFI Detected by SMOS and Aquarius
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2017Ocean salinity and soil moisture are key parameters for understanding the global water cycle, weather, and climate. These parameters are being measured with spaceborne radiometers operating in the L-band window at 1400–1427 MHz. Although man-made activity in this band is prohibited, radio frequency interference (RFI) is still a problem over significant

Monolithic transistor SPST switch for L-band
IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2002A comparison of single-pole single-throw switch topologies is presented in this paper. A three-MESFET monolithic GaAs switch was designed, for 2-GHz operation, fabricated and tested in three different bias conditions: V/sub bias/ = 0 (self-bias); I/sub bias/ = 0 (floating); and V/sub bias/ /spl ne/ 0, I/sub bias/ /spl ne/ 0 (biased).
