The use of the L-curve method in the inversion of diffusion battery data

Journal of Aerosol Science, 1997
Regularisation techniques are often employed to find a unique solutions to the diffusion battery data inversion problem. This involves minimising a function of the form A + λB, where A measures the fit to the data and B measures the smoothness of the solution. The quality of the solution is critically dependent on the choice of λ.

Shape reconstruction of a 2D-elastic penetrable object via the L-curve method

Journal of Inverse and Ill-Posed Problems, 2006
Summary: We discuss an inversion algorithm which combined with the \(L\)-curve criterion for the selection of the regularization parameter, effectively yields shape reconstructions of penetrable obstacles. The required scattered elastic field is generated by either a \(P\) or \(S\)-incident wave.

Optimal Regularization Method Based on the L-Curve for Solving Rational Function Model Parameters

Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing, 2021
Rational polynomial coefficients in a rational function model (<small>RFM</small>) have high correlation and redundancy, especially in high-order <small>RFMs</small>, which results in ill-posed problems of the normal equation. For this reason, this article presents an optimal regularization method with the L-curve for solving ...

Laplace-DLTS method with the regularization parameter chosen from the L curve

Semiconductors, 2009
The Deep Level Transient Spectroscopy (DLTS) method is one of the basic methods widely used for determining the parameters of defects giving rise to deep levels in the band gap of a semiconductor material. It is proposed using the L-curve approach when choosing the regularization parameter in the Laplace-DLTS method for the exclusion of uncontrolled ...

Distributed Load Identification for Uncertain Structure Based on LHS-GA and Improved L-Curve Method

International Journal of Computational Methods, 2020
In order to identify the upper and lower bounds of distributed force exciting on an uncertain structure, a comprehensive approach combining genetic algorithm based on Latin hypercube sampling (LHS-GA) and improved L-curve method is built up in this paper.

3-D Ionospheric Tomography Using Model Function in the Modified L-Curve Method

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2019
Ionospheric tomography based on the observed total electron content along different satellite-receiver rays is a typically ill-posed inverse problem. Incorporating the electron density profiles data from COSMIC radio occultation technique and ground ionosondes, the Tikhonov regularization method is adopted to reconstruct the 3-D ionospheric electron ...
