ITER L mode confinement database [PDF]
This paper describes the content of an L-mode database that has been compiled with data from Alcator C-Mod, ASDEX, DIII, DIII-D, FTU, JET, JFT-2M, JT-60, PBX-M, PDX, T-10, TEXTOR, TFTR, and Tore-Supra. The database consists of a total of 2938 entries, 1881 of which are in the L-phase while 922 are ohmically heated (OH) only.

Physics of the L-mode to H-mode transition in tokamaks [PDF]
Combined theoretical and experimental work has resulted in the creation of a paradigm which has allowed semi-quantitative understanding of the edge confinement improvement that occurs in the H-mode. Shear in the E*B flow of the fluctuations in the plasma edge can lead to decorrelation of the fluctuations, decreased radial correlation lengths and ...

SOLPS-ITER validation with TCV L-mode discharges
This work presents a quantitative test of SOLPS-ITER simulations against tokamak à configuration variable (TCV) L-mode experiments. These simulations account for drifts, currents, kinetic neutrals, and carbon impurities providing the most complete edge transport simulations for TCV to date.

High-confinement radiative L-modes in ASDEX Upgrade
Abstract Experiments have been performed in the ASDEX Upgrade tokamak where plasmas are kept just below the H-mode threshold using feedback on the radiated power via seeded impurity. The resulting high-power L-modes show high confinement properties and no ELM activity due to the reduced pedestal height.

Perturbative momentum transport in MAST L-mode plasmas
Non-axisymmetric magnetic fields are used to perturbatively probe momentum transport physics in MAST L-mode plasmas. The low beta L-mode target was chosen to complement previous experiments conducted in high beta NSTX H-mode plasmas (β N = 3.5-4.6) where an inward momentum pinch was measured.

In this paper a new adaptive audio watermarking algorithm based on Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) is introduced. The audio signal is divided into frames and each one is decomposed adaptively, by EMD, into intrinsic oscillatory components called ...

Theory of pseudoclassical confinement and transition to L mode
A theory of the self-sustained turbulence is developed for resistive plasma in toroidal devices. Pseudoclassical confinement is obtained in the low-temperature limit. As temperature increases, the current diffusivity prevails upon resistivity, and the turbulence nature changes so as to recover the L-mode transport.

Mode dispersion and delay characteristics of optical waveguides using equivalent TL circuits [PDF]
A new analysis leading to an exact and efficient algorithm is presented for calculating directly and without numerical differentiation the mode dispersion characteristics of cylindrical dielectric waveguides of arbitrary refractive-index profile. The new
