Frequency analysis of extreme rainfall using L‐moment

Irrigation and Drainage, 2003
AbstractThis research seeks to derive the design rainfalls through the L‐moment with the test of homogeneity, independence and outlier of data on annual maximum daily rainfall in 38 Korean rainfall stations. To select the appropriate distribution of annual maximum daily rainfall data according to rainfall station, generalized extreme value (GEV ...

Gaussian Centered L-moments

2017
As various types of media currently generate so-called big data, data visualization faces the challenge of selecting a few representative variables that best summarize important structure inherent in data. The conventional moments-based summary statistics can be useful for the purpose of variable screening.

Network Traffic Characterization Using L-moment Ratio Diagrams

2019 Sixth International Conference on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IOTSMS), 2019
5G networks are facing to new challenges related to the growing traffic volume and service diversity. Some of the major concerns in this new scenario are the security and privacy issues required for a full technology adoption. Traffic characterization is a compound of strategies intended to define formally the behaviour and patterns in the Internet ...

On Inferring Income Inequality Measures Using L-moments

Economic Quality Control, 2015
Abstract L-moments are expectations of linear combinations of order statistics, their use in reliability analysis has been established. In the present paper we study L-moments in relation to income inequality measures. Models characterized by functional relationships between L-moments and income inequality measures are studied.

Multivariate L-Moments Based on Transports

2015
Univariate L-moments are expressed as projections of the quantile function onto an orthogonal basis of univariate polynomials. We present multivariate versions of L-moments expressed as collections of orthogonal projections of a multivariate quantile function on a basis of multivariate polynomials.

Partial L-moments for the analysis of censored flood samples / Utilisation des L-moments partiels pour l’analyse d’échantillons tronqués de crues

Hydrological Sciences Journal, 2004
A parameter estimation method is proposed for fitting the generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution to censored flood samples. Partial L-moments (PL-moments), which are variants of L-moments and analogous to "partial probability weighted moments" are defined for the analysis of such flood samples.

L-moments for Pearson Type VII Distribution

In this article, we introduce the differential equation formulated by Carl Pearson that leads to the derivation of the Pearson type VII probability density function. We then apply numerical methods to calculate the L-moments of this distribution.

L-Moments of Residual Life and Partial Moments

2013
The residual life distribution and various descriptive measures derived from it form the basis of modelling, characterization and ageing concepts in reliability theory. Of these, the moment-based descriptive measures such as mean, variance and coefficient of variation of residual life and their quantile forms were all discussed earlier in Chaps.

Estimation and Tests Under L-Moment Condition Models

2013
We propose estimators defined thanks to the minimization of an “energy” functional for a semi-parametric model defined by L-moment equations. This is an adaptation for the L-moments framework of the estimation through the minimization of a divergence with moment condition models.
