Survival by Race and Ethnicity in Children and Adolescents/Young Adults With Relapsed/Refractory Hodgkin Lymphoma: A Pooled Analysis of Children's Oncology Group Trials

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Despite 5‐year survival rates of over 90% among children and adolescents/young adults (CAYAs) with classic Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL), 15%–20% relapse after frontline therapy. Prior analysis of frontline Children's Oncology Group (COG) clinical trials demonstrated that, despite similar rates of relapse, non‐Hispanic Black (NHB) and ...

Optimizing direct-modulated laser LiFi systems for hospital environments through simulation-driven analysis of BER, SNR, and Q-factor performance [version 3; peer review: 2 approved, 1 approved with reservations]

open access: yesOpen Research Europe
Background Modern hospital environments require wireless communication systems that ensure electromagnetic interference (EMI) compliance, privacy, and high throughput for mission-critical applications, such as telemetry, medical imaging, and Electronic ...

Conservation laws shape dissipation

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
Starting from the most general formulation of stochastic thermodynamics—i.e. a thermodynamically consistent nonautonomous stochastic dynamics describing systems in contact with several reservoirs—we define a procedure to identify the conservative and the

Detailed Fluctuation Theorems: A Unifying Perspective

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
We present a general method to identify an arbitrary number of fluctuating quantities which satisfy a detailed fluctuation theorem for all times within the framework of time-inhomogeneous Markovian jump processes.

Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Survival in Western Kenya: Reduction in Early Deaths and Treatment Abandonment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background An earlier study on children diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Kenya reported a low event‐free survival (EFS), excess treatment abandonment, and high induction mortality.

Exploring environmental modifiers of LRRK2-associated Parkinson’s disease penetrance: An exposomics and metagenomics pilot study on household dust

open access: yesEnvironment International
Pathogenic variants in the Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) gene are a primary monogenic cause of Parkinson’s disease (PD). However, the likelihood of developing PD with inherited LRRK2 pathogenic variants differs (a phenomenon known as “reduced ...

ASSIST: Refinement of a Benefits Navigator Intervention Among Low‐Income Pediatric Oncology Families

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Children with cancer living in poverty experience worse survival and quality of life. Interventions connecting low‐income families to benefits (e.g., Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [SNAP] improve health outcomes; yet nearly 50% of SNAP‐eligible pediatric oncology families are unenrolled.

Physics-Enhanced L-Systems. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
In computer graphics and engineering many classes of complex objects can be designed with L-systems. We present a concept for enhancing timed and parametric L-systems with physics. This simplifies considerably the physically correct design of certain classes of computer animations or technical objects modelled by production rules.
