Enabling Real‐Time, Non‐Ionizing 3D Imaging of Implantable Magnetic Cements Using Magnetic Particle Imaging (Adv. Mater. Interfaces 7/2026)

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 7, 7 April 2026.
Magnetic Particle Imaging An implantable resin cement coated with a magnetic iron thin film is tracked in real time using Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI). The artwork highlights its MPI detectability, enabling 3D localization and orientation sensing without ionizing radiation. More details can be found in the Research Article by Gabriel C.

Enhancing heat transfer at the micro-scale using elastic turbulence

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2015
Small concentrations of a high-molecular-weight polymer have been used to create so-called “elastic turbulence” in a micro-scale serpentine channel geometry. It is known that the interaction of large elastic stresses created by the shearing motion within

Rendering white nationalism defeasible in interaction

open access: yesBritish Journal of Social Psychology, Volume 65, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract People work to present themselves as moral, reasonable or justified even when making racist or hateful comments. In this project, we identify interactional practices that accomplish support for White nationalism as part of a reasonable (or even positive) identity held by reasonable or positive actors.

Untangling nutrient co‐regulation of ombrotrophic peatland development

open access: yesBoreas, Volume 55, Issue 2, Page 384-404, April 2026.
Multi‐method (FTIR, FT‐NIR and TGA) approaches characterizing the organic peat constituents at Holcroft Moss reveal a record of switches that reflect broadly hydroclimate variability governing the decomposition patterns. There are periods, however, where hydroclimate does not fully explain the variability observed and instead changes appear linked to ...

Reconciling links between diversity and population stability across global plant communities

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 1, Page 154-165, April 2026.
Summary Maintaining ecological stability is essential for sustaining ecosystem functions and the benefits they provide to society. Ecological theory predicts that plant diversity destabilizes local populations, yet empirical studies report variable effects.

Nanosecond‐Pulsed Laser Beam Shaping with a Liquid Crystal Spatial Light Modulator for Rapid Microtexturing of Metallic Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study investigates the microtexture generation with various shapes (e.g., circular, triangle, square, hexagon, and others) on stainless steel 316 L surface using a liquid‐crystal spatial light modulator. The method combining computer‐generated holograms with images demonstrates high energy efficiency. Textures with 6–12 μm depth and 50–70 μm width

Structure‐Guided Engineering of a Promiscuous O‐Methyltransferase for a SAM Regeneration Biocatalysis Platform of Methylated Pharmaceuticals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
A substrate promiscuous and regioselective O‐methyltransferase, SmOMT, is functionally and structurally characterized. A double mutant, SmOMTE152A/I306A, exhibited enhanced catalytic activity. By coupling this mutant with a mutant halide methyltransferase, AtHMTV140T, for SAM regeneration, a superior artificial fusion enzyme, AtHMTV140T‐L95‐SmOMTE152A ...

Cadmium and Zinc‐Doped p‐type Sb2Se3 Single Crystals and Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
Cd and Zn were assessed as candidate p‐type dopants in Sb2Se3 single crystals in concentrations between 1016‐1020 cm−3. Both are effective in inducing p‐type conductivity, however Cd doped crystals exhibit lower resistivity across a wider range of dopant levels.

Faraday Cups: Principles, Designs, and Applications Across Scientific Disciplines—A Review

open access: yesInstruments
Beam diagnostics are essential tools for monitoring the performance of charged particle beams and the safe operation of particle accelerators. The performance of an accelerator is determined by evaluating the properties of beam particles, such as energy,

Drosophila Sexual Attractiveness in Older Males Is Mediated by Their Microbiota

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2020
Age is well known to be a basis for female preference of males. However, the mechanisms underlying age-based choices are not well understood, with several competing theories and little consensus.
