ABSTRACT Goniomonads are representatives of Cryptista. They are morphologically and genetically diverse, comprising nine genera described so far. 18S rDNA data has revealed at least one more monophyletic genus‐level lineage, as well as novel species within currently described genera. The molecular diversity of goniomonads is not fully investigated, and

Recoloring via Modular Decomposition
ABSTRACT The reconfiguration graph of the k‐colorings of a graph G, denoted R k ( G ), is the graph whose vertices are the k‐colorings of G and two colorings are adjacent in R k ( G ) if they differ in color on exactly one vertex. A graph G is said to be recolorable if R ℓ ( G ) is connected for all ℓ ≥ χ ( G ) + 1.

Percutaneous femoro‐femoral V‐A ECMO cannulation was associated with more than a two‐fold lower risk of site bleeding and nearly a six‐fold lower risk of infection compared with surgical cut‐down, with no difference in limb ischemia. Absence of distal perfusion catheterization and larger arterial cannula size were additional modifiable ischemia risk ...

Colonial peritrichs act as physical ecosystem engineers in middle Danube biofilms, generating three‐dimensional structures during 1–28 days of colonisation. Their surfaces host filter feeder epibionts (choanoflagellates, other peritrichs, rotifers), expanding filtration capacity and promoting functional group establishment including swimming and ...

Cryptic Cryptophytes—Revision of the Genus Goniomonas
ABSTRACT Cryptomonad protists are ubiquitously distributed over marine and freshwater habitats. As an exception to the colored cryptomonads, the heterotrophic cryptomonads of the genus Goniomonas have an ancestral phylogenetic position. They lack any kind of chloroplast and most likely represent a basal group to those cryptomonad groups having obtained

El Niño Intensified Fog Formation in the Namib Desert
Abstract Despite the importance of fog as a supplementary moisture source in many dryland ecosystems, little is known about the effects of global climate change and natural climate variability on fog regimes. Here, we examined the long‐term (1966–2022) fog trend and the underlying drivers in the typical fog‐dominated Namib Desert.

Abstract This essay traces the entangled legacies of political violence, memory, and kinship by following the life of the author's father, whose adult years unfolded under Chile's dictatorship (1973–1990). Through intimate conversations and ethnographic attention to domestic life, it explores how closeness to and eventual disillusionment with state ...

Statin‐associated regulation of hepatic PNPLA3 in patients without known liver disease
Abstract Background and objectives Statins are used for metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) (NAFLD) treatment, but their role in this context is unclear. Genetic variants of patatin‐like phospholipase domain containing 3 (PNPLA3) are associated with MASLD susceptibility and statin treatment efficacy.
