Chitosan‐induced modulation of secondary metabolism and stress tolerance in Salvia rosmarinus under combined drought and heat stress

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 10, Page 5989-6001, 15 August 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Abiotic stresses, particularly drought and elevated temperatures, negatively affect plant physiological and metabolic processes. This study investigated the effects of drought, heat, and combined stress on Salvia rosmarinus (rosemary), and evaluated foliar‐applied chitosan as a biostimulant.

Phenylbenzothiazole Bis(Cyclometalated) Pt(IV) Complexes With Phenanthroline‐Based Ligands as ROS, NADH and Microtubule Destabilizing Agents

open access: yesApplied Organometallic Chemistry, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
This study presents the optical and biological properties of the neutral and cationic phenylbenzothiazole cyclometalated Pt(IV) [Pt(pbt)2Cl2] (1) and [Pt(pbt)2(N^N)](ClO4)2 (N^N = phen 2, pyraphen 3, NH2‐phen 4) complexes. Complexes 1 and 4 demonstrated 1O2 generation and catalytic NADH photooxidation under blue light irradiation. The highest cytotoxic

Revisiting a long‐overlooked skull: Implications for the distribution of Dinodontosaurus brevirostris (Kannemeyeriiformes) in the Brazilian Triassic

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 7, Page 1749-1765, July 2026.
Abstract Dicynodonts (Anomodontia: Dicynodontia) were one of the main groups of terrestrial tetrapods in Permian and Triassic faunas. In Brazil, the genus Dinodontosaurus is one of the most common tetrapod taxon in the Triassic Santa Maria Supersequence. This genus has a complex taxonomic history and is represented in the Triassic of both Argentina and

The Effects of Biome Stability During the Quaternary on Plant Diversity

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
We used machine learning to reconstruct global biome changes over the last 2.6 million years, revealing that tropical forests, deserts, and temperate forests were relatively stable, whereas northern Europe and North America experienced frequent biome shifts due to ice sheet expansions.

Drought Impact on Industrial Water Discharges in Spain's Agri‐Food Sector

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
The PRTR–SPEI panel estimates confirm a positive and statistically stable effect of droughts on industrial discharges, with consistent increases in COD and nitrogen under more negative SPEI scores. This result reflects a structural relationship between hydrological stress and industrial behaviour: reduced flows and dilution capacity during dry periods ...

A Cross‐Country Evaluation of Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Human Metapneumovirus Surveillance Systems: Identifying Gaps and Best Practices for Improved Disease Monitoring

open access: yesReviews in Medical Virology, Volume 36, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and human metapneumovirus (hMPV) are seasonal respiratory viruses that can cause severe outcomes, particularly in older adults; however, their burden remains under‐captured. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends expanding surveillance over pathogens, such as RSV and hMPV, through the Mosaic ...

The prevalence of cannabidiol (CBD) use in North America and Europe: A meta‐analysis

open access: yesAddiction, Volume 121, Issue 7, Page 1653-1670, July 2026.
Abstract Background and aims The global cannabidiol (CBD) market has expanded in recent years. Several studies suggest CBD use, whether for medical or recreational purposes, is on the rise; however, no systematic assessments of its prevalence have been conducted so far. This meta‐analysis aimed to estimate the prevalence of CBD use in North America and
