Digitalisation of Energy: An Energy Futures Lab Briefing Paper

2020
Digital technology has the potential to radically reshape the way we generate, trade and consume energy. Over the past decade, the incorporation of information and communications technology into the energy system has emerged as a significant driver of change in the sector but the pace and scale of that change is likely to increase dramatically over the

Lab-on-Paper with Dual Electrochemical/Colorimetric Detection for Simultaneous Determination of Gold and Iron

Analytical Chemistry, 2010
A novel lab-on-paper device combining electrochemical and colorimetric detection for the rapid screening of Au(III) in the presence of a common interference, Fe(III), in industrial waste solutions is presented here. With dilute aqua regia (0.1 M HCl + 0.05 M HNO(3)) as the supporting electrolyte, square wave voltammetry on paper provided a well-defined

Application of curcumin nanoparticles in a lab-on-paper device as a simple and green pH probe

Talanta, 2015
This article describes the design and fabrication of a novel lab-on-paper device for pH sensing using curcumin nanoparticles (CURNs). In order to fabricate the lab-on-paper, the wax dipping method was used. The color of loaded paper with CURNs changed from yellow to orange and red to brown in the pH range of 7-13.

Smart and flexible electric heat: an energy futures lab briefing paper

2020
Heating in residential, commercial and industrial settings makes up almost half of final energy consumption in the UK, more than the energy consumed for electricity or transport. The electrification of heat is anticipated to play a major role for the UK’s efforts to reduce emissions to net-zero by 2050. Heating demand is highly variable between seasons

Technology of Stearine Transfer Using Laser-Heating for Lab-On-Paper Development

2018 XV International Scientific Conference on Optoelectronic and Electronic Sensors (COE), 2018
In this article, we demonstrate a manufacture of the lab-on-paper device. The paper presents a technology of laser thermal transfer of stearine, into a porous paper often used in chemistry. Such a rapid, one-step technology was developed to obtain a paper-based analytical device with using only paper, stearine disc and CO2 laser plotter.

Photoelectrochemical Lab-on-Paper Device Based on an Integrated Paper Supercapacitor and Internal Light Source

Analytical Chemistry, 2013
In this work, a photoelectrochemical (PEC) method was introduced into a microfluidic paper-based analytical device (μ-PAD), and thus, a truly low-cost, simple, portable, and disposable microfluidic PEC origami device (μ-PECOD) with an internal chemiluminescence light source and external digital multimeter (DMM) was demonstrated.

Sudoku-like Lab-on-Paper Cyto-Device with Dual Enhancement of Electrochemiluminescence Intermediates Strategy

Analytical Chemistry, 2017
This paper describes the design and construction of a sudoku-like lab-on-paper platform, in which dual enhancement of reaction intermediates strategy was incorporated for multiplexed competitive electrochemiluminescence (ECL) cyto-assay. Benefiting from the sudoku-like structure, integrated multifunctions were obtained on such an elaborately devised ...

Lab-on-paper for molecular testing with USB-powered isothermal amplification and fluidic control

Microchimica Acta
The global healthcare market increasingly demands affordable molecular diagnostics for field testing. To address this need, we introduce a lab-on-paper (LOP) platform that integrates isothermal amplification with a specially designed paper strip for molecular testing through an automated microfluidics process.
