Pitfalls associated with lipophilic fluorophore staining of extracellular vesicles for uptake studies

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, 2019
Post-staining of extracellular vesicles (EVs) with lipid-anchored fluorophores (LAFs) such as PKH67 is a widely used strategy for studying EVs but it is associated with several pitfalls.

Introduction to the concept of “welfare potential” of production systems and its practical relevance to welfare labelling

open access: yesFrontiers in Animal Science, 2023
Farm animal welfare is inextricably linked to, and limited by, the welfare potential of the production system. Welfare potential is determined by the method of production, with key housing features and the genetics of the animal being the primary ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

SAFETY EVALUATION ON THE USE OF HIGH ALERT DRUGS IN RSUD ARIFIN ACHMAD RIAU PROVINCE

open access: yesJurnal Kedokteran dan Kesehatan
High alert drugs are drugs that have a high percentage of causing risk of harm to patients. To avoid errors, high alert drugs must be used properly, including storage and marking. The objective of this study was determine the safe use of high alert drugs

Weakly supervised segment annotation via expectation kernel density estimation

open access: yesIET Computer Vision, 2019
Since the labelling for the positive images/videos is ambiguous in weakly supervised segment annotation, negative mining‐based methods that only use the intra‐class information emerge. In these methods, negative instances are utilised to penalise unknown

Threshold Level and Traceability of Roundup Ready® Soybeans in Tofu Production

open access: yesFood Technology and Biotechnology, 2017
The aim of this study is to assess DNA degradation, DNA amplification, and GMO quantity during tofu production. Soybean seeds were spiked with Roundup Ready® soybeans (RRS) at 0.9, 2, 3 and 5 % (by mass), to assess the level of RSS that would be of ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

On Online Labeling with Polynomially Many Labels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In the online labeling problem with parameters n and m we are presented with a sequence of n keys from a totally ordered universe U and must assign each arriving key a label from the label set {1,2,...,m} so that the order of labels (strictly) respects the ordering on U.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
