Upper airway obstruction due to aspiration of the tamponading gauze swab placed following severe blood loss during sinus flap surgery in a Shetland pony (Equus caballus)

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract A 24‐year‐old pony, weighing 130 kg, was presented with chronic sinusitis despite previous tooth extraction and sinus trephination in standing sedation. General anaesthesia was induced for a maxillary sinus flap. Severe haemorrhage occurred, which required tamponade of the sinus using a gauze swab.

Primiparous and multiparous women's birthing experiences and satisfaction with pain management in the first and second stages of vaginal delivery—A prospective cohort study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 6, Page 1143-1152, June 2025.
Multiparous women were slightly more satisfied with their birthing experience than were primiparous women even though there was no difference in pain management satisfaction related to parity. Satisfaction with pain management during the second stage of labor significantly influences overall experience.

Inpatient vaginal dinoprostone vs outpatient balloon catheters for cervical ripening in induction of labor: An individual participant data meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 6, Page 1041-1055, June 2025.
Cervical ripening in the induction of labor with outpatient balloon catheters is probably less effective than inpatient vaginal dinoprostone, specifically in maternal overweight and obesity during pregnancy. The perinatal and maternal safety profiles are comparable.

Atrioventricular conduction abnormalities are associated with poor outcome following intermittent umbilical cord occlusions in fetal sheep

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 6, Page 1207-1217, June 2025.
Continuous electrocardiographic monitoring of fetal sheep heart during intermittent umbilical cord occlusions gradually leading to severe metabolic acidemia revealed several fetal arrhythmias including atrioventricular block, ventricular tachycardia, and ventricular fibrillation that would have gone unnoticed with current fetal monitoring systems ...

Maternal and Neonatal Consequences of Early Augmentation of Labor Among Women With Spontaneous Onset of Labor: A National Population‐Based Study

open access: yesBirth, Volume 52, Issue 2, Page 308-319, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Background While some labor interventions are essential in preventing maternal and neonatal morbidity, there is little evidence to support systematic early augmentation of labor (EAL). Our objective was to assess the association between EAL and cesarean delivery rate, postpartum hemorrhage and adverse neonatal outcomes.

Pregnant Women's Care Needs During Early Labor–A Scoping Review

open access: yesBirth, Volume 52, Issue 2, Page 207-227, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pregnant women face the challenge of managing early labor on their own until they feel the need to seek professional support.
