Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

DDC Laboratory Experiments

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1988
Four laboratory sessions bearing on direct digital control are presented. The basic considerations for the laboratory arrangement are exposed and the equipment is briefly reviewed. The main topics of these sessions deal with the quantization effects, the sampling phenomena, the performances of a DDC loop for controling a first-order plant and for ...

Laboratory Experiments

2009
AbstractThis article discusses four kinds of political science experiments that use the political theory/formal theory approach. These are committee decision-making, elections and candidate competition, information aggregation, and voter turnout and participation games. Each kind of experiment is examined in detail.

Laboratory Experiments

2017
The hydro-thermo-mechanical and chemical properties of reservoir rocks and the surrounding sealing units are important data for assessing the performance of a CO2 storage. Laboratory measurements on rock samples are the first method to assess these properties and evaluate the reservoir injectivity and storage potential. Beyond standard techniques, this

LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS

1990
The electric field in the vicinity of charged electrodes can be represented by a set of lines directed from the positively charged electrode to the negatively charged electrode. These electric field lines are sometimes called lines of force because a tangent drawn to an electric field line at any point indicates the direction of the electric force ...

Phaeochromocytoma — A laboratory experience

Irish Journal of Medical Science, 1995
Thirteen phaeochromocytomas were found over five and a half years from 2,834 patient requests for tumour screens. HMMA (VMA) was the usual screening test requested. Free catecholamines were reported when specifically requested by clinicians and where the HMMA level was > 40 mumol/24 hr.
