SOCIAL STRUCTURE OF THE PROTOGYNOUS FISH LABROIDES DIMIDIATUS
Social relationships of the protogynous wrasse, Labroides dimidiatus, were investigated at the shallow rocky reefs of Shirahama, southern Japan, from 1972 to 1979. Individuals were tagged, and their behaviour and movements were recorded for at least one month. Home ranges of males hardly overlapped.

Effects of the cleaner fish Labroides dimidiatus on grazing fishes and coral reef benthos
Marine Ecology Progress Series, 2020Territorial and roving grazing fishes farm, and feed on, algae, sediment, or detritus, thus exerting different influences on benthic community structure, and are common clients of cleaner fish. Whether cleaners affect grazing-fish diversity and abundance,

The Labroides dimidiatus is one of the most traded marine ornamental fishes worldwide, yet not much is known about the microflora associated with this fish. This study is designed to investigate the bacteria composition associated with captive L. dimidiatus and its surrounding aquarium water.

Cleaner fish Labroides dimidiatus discriminate numbers but fail a mental number line test
Animal Cognition, 2017Several species of primates, including humans, possess a spontaneous spatial mental arrangement (i.e. mental number line MNL) of increasing numbers or continuous quantities from left to right. This cognitive process has recently been documented in domestic chicken in a spatial-numerical task, opening the possibility that MNL is a cognitive capacity ...
