Mechanical Growth of Labyrinth Seal
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013A preliminary numerical study has been conducted to study the effect of rotational speed on centrifugal growth in a six-tooth straight labyrinth seal. The distribution of the radial deformation along the seal axis for the rotational speed ranging from 100 rpm to 1500 rpm is reported in this paper.

Threaded labyrinth seal for compressors
Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, 1992In chemical technology, the purity of the intake air and the internal surfaces of gas flow ducts has a substantial effect on output and the efficiency of production. For example, if the air which is a raw product for the catalytic production of nitric acid is contaminated by oil, operational efficiency decreases, the losses of the platinum catalyst ...

Aeroelastic Instability in Labyrinth Seals
Journal of Engineering for Power, 1968Labyrinth seals and associated structural elements have been noted to sustain fatigue failure in high powered, high speed rotating machinery under circumstances that preclude blaming standing wave resonances or “stick-slip” excitation from rotor/stator rubs.
