Extraction replica method from thinned transmission electron microscopy samples without floating off carbon films: A case study on reduced activation steel

Abstract A recipe for producing carbon extraction replicas from twin‐jet electropolished disks is described. This technique allows tracking the analysed region with respect to the bulk sample. An example use of the method as applied to a reduced activation ferritic martensitic (RAFM) steel, ‘UK‐RAFM’, is reported.

Update of the risk assessment on emerging and novel brominated flame retardants in food

Abstract The European Commission asked EFSA to update its 2012 risk assessment on Emerging and Novel brominated flame retardants (BFRs) in food. Since the previous Opinion, further information was collected for a total of 27 BFRs. The CONTAM Panel concluded that TDBPP, DBPNG and TBNPA are considered genotoxic and carcinogenic.

Prepolymerization of Lacquer Sap under Pure Oxygen Atmosphere and Its Effects on the Properties of Lacquer Film

A series of lacquer saps were prepared by prepolymerization under oxygen atmosphere. The prepolymerization process was investigated by GPC, UV-Vis, FT-IR, NMR, and microscope. The results showed that the polymerization of urushiol monomer was accelerated.
