Mode propagation and attenuation in lined ducts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Optimal impedance for each mode is an important concept in an infinitely long duct lined with uniform absorption material. However it is not valid for finite length linings. This is because that the modes in lined ducts are not power-orthogonal; the total sound power is not equal to the sum of the sound power of each mode; cross-power terms may play ...

Detonation propagation in three-dimensional continuous curved ducts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this paper, 3D detonation numerical studies are conducted using reactive Euler equations in both straight and curved channels. These simulations are compared to investigate the response of detonation to curvature within infinitely long square ducts.

Stabilization effect of frictions for transonic shocks in steady compressible Euler flows passing three-dimensional ducts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Transonic shocks play a pivotal role in designation of supersonic inlets and ramjets. For the three-dimensional steady non-isentropic compressible Euler system with frictions, we had constructed a family of transonic shock solutions in rectilinear ducts with square cross-sections, and this paper is devoted to proving rigorously that almost all of these

Multimodal nonlinear acoustics in two- and three-dimensional curved ducts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We develop a weakly nonlinear model of duct acoustics in two and three dimensions (without flow). The work extends the previous work of McTavish & Brambley (2019, J. Fluid Mech. 875, pp. 411-447) to three dimensions and significantly improves the numerical efficiency.
