A Lacrimal Gland is a Lacrimal Gland, But Rodent's and Rabbit's Are Not Human

The Ocular Surface, 2010
Research into the physiological processes governing both normal and abnormal functions of the lacrimal gland has used animal models to provide insights that might be applied to improving our understanding of human disease and designing of beneficial therapeutic interventions. Animal models most frequently used are mice, rats, and rabbits.

Lacrimal Gland Masses

American Journal of Roentgenology, 2013
W371 tory processes tend to have a diffuse pattern, typically involving both the orbital and palpebral lobes of the gland. The palpebral lobe is the portion of the lacrimal gland that is usually visible when the upper eyelid is everted on physical examination. The lacrimal gland normally measures approximately 20 × 12 × 5 mm.

Lacrimal Gland Hemangiopericytoma

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1995
A 49-year-old woman with a left orbital mass was referred to an orbital clinic. Clinical investigation suggested a lacrimal gland lesion and the patient underwent lateral orbitotomy and excisional biopsy for a suspected pleomorphic adenoma in the lacrimal gland.Histopathologic evaluation disclosed a hemangiopericytoma originating within the lacrimal ...

Imaging of the Lacrimal Gland

Seminars in Ultrasound, CT and MRI, 2006
The lacrimal gland is situated superolateral to the eye and produces tears that moisten, lubricate, and protect the delicate corneal and conjunctival epithelium. Anatomically related to the orbit but embryologically and functionally more closely related to the salivary glands, radiological imaging has proven invaluable in delineation and ...

The arteries of the lacrimal gland

Anatomia Clinica, 1984
The vascularization of 70 lacrimal glands was studied by orbital dissection subsequent to injection of the arterial bed with red-dyed latex. The origin, diameter and collateral branches of the lacrimal artery and its anatomical relations were investigated. Three types of lacrimal vascularization were seen.
