A Comparison of Emotionally Stimulated and Conventionally Collected Tears Using Bottom‐Up, Label‐Free Quantitative Proteomic Analysis—A Pilot Study

open access: yesPROTEOMICS – Clinical Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Proteomic analysis of biofluids is central for identifying disease biomarkers. Tears have become popular targets for biomarker discovery and biosensor development, largely because they can be collected noninvasively and are rich sources of biomarkers for ocular and systemic diseases. Although basal and reflex tears have been well characterized,

Metastatic, Her-2 Amplified Lacrimal Gland Carcinoma with Response to Lapatinib Treatment

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncological Medicine, 2015
Carcinoma of the lacrimal gland is a rare malignancy, limiting opportunities to develop new therapeutic regimens through clinical trials. There are no standard guidelines on optimal treatment of lacrimal gland carcinoma.

Iatrogenic keratoconjunctivitis sicca in a dog [PDF]

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2004
Qualitative and quantitative abnormalities in primary components of the tear can alter the dynamics of the lacrimal film, compromising its function. Lipids, an aqueous fraction and mucoproteins constitute the lacrimal film.

Iguratimod alleviated Sjögren's syndrome through regulating macrophage polarization

open access: yesRheumatology &Autoimmunity, EarlyView.
Nonobese diabetic (NOD) mice exhibited characteristic of Sjögren's syndrome (SS), with increased M1 macrophages and deceased M2 macrophages. Iguratimod alleviated SS‐like symptoms and restored balance of macrophage polarization through inhibiting the mitogen‐activated protein kinases pathway in NOD mice.

Clinical perspectives and comparisons between immunoglobulin G4‐related disease and antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody‐associated vasculitis

open access: yesRheumatology &Autoimmunity, EarlyView.
Clinical perspectives and comparisons between immunoglobulin G4‐related disease and antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody‐associated vasculitis. Abstract Both immunoglobulin (Ig) G4‐related disease (IgG4‐RD) and antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)‐associated vasculitis (AAV) are systemic disorders that affect a wide range of organs.
