Role of SoxE transcription factors in development and disease
Abstract Sox8, Sox9, and Sox10 arose by multiple rounds of genome duplications from a single SoxE gene in ancestral vertebrates. In this review, we will briefly discuss the molecular structure and function of SoxE transcription factors and their evolutionary origin. We will then discuss their expression, function, and developmental disorders.

Hemangiopericytoma of the Lacrimal Sac
Hemangiopericytomas of the orbit are rare tumors with low malignancy potential. To the authors' knowledge, only three previous cases of these tumors occurring in the lacrimal sac have been reported. The authors report a fourth case. Follow-up was obtained on the first reported case, and the patient in that case had a recurrence after 15 years.

Pyogenic granulomas of the lacrimal sac [PDF]
Eight cases of pyogenic granulomas of the lacrimal sac are reported. The clinical symptoms were consistent with chronic dacryocystitis which was unresponsive to previous probing and antibiotics. Extirpation of the sacs was done because of dacryocystocoele, pyocoele, or fistula formation through the skin.
