Cyclodextrin Inclusion Complexes with Antibiotics and Antibacterial Agents as Drug-Delivery Systems—A Pharmaceutical Perspective

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2022
Cyclodextrins (CDs) are a family of cyclic oligosaccharides, consisting of a macrocyclic ring of glucose subunits linked by α-1,4 glycosidic bonds. The shape of CD molecules is similar to a truncated cone with a hydrophobic inner cavity and a hydrophilic

Reaction Discovery Employing Macrocycles: Transannular Cyclizations of Macrocyclic Bis-lactams [PDF]

open access: yesOrganic Letters, 2008
Macrocyclic bis-lactams have been synthesized by cyclodimerization of homoallylic amino esters employing a Zr(IV)-catalyzed ester-amide exchange protocol. Base-mediated transannular cyclizations have been identified to access both bicyclic [5-11] and tricyclic [5-8-5] frameworks in good yield and diastereoselectivity.

Discovery of macrocyclic inhibitors of apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease 1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease 1 (APE1) is an essential base excision repair enzyme that is upregulated in a number of cancers, contributes to resistance of tumors treated with DNA-alkylating or -oxidizing agents, and has recently been identified as ...

On the prevalence of bridged macrocyclic pyrroloindolines formed in regiodivergent alkylations of tryptophan. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A Friedel-Crafts alkylation is described that efficiently transforms tryptophan-containing peptides into macrocycles of varying ring connectivity. Factors are surveyed that influence the distribution of regioisomers, with a focus on indole C3-alkylations

Macrocyclic Pyridyl Polyoxazoles: Structure-Activity Studies of the Aminoalkyl Side-Chain on G-Quadruplex Stabilization and Cytotoxic Activity

open access: yesMolecules, 2013
Pyridyl polyoxazoles are 24-membered macrocyclic lactams comprised of a pyridine, four oxazoles and a phenyl ring. A derivative having a 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl chain attached to the 5-position of the phenyl ring was recently identified as a selective G ...

Macrocyclization Reactions: The Importance of Conformational, Configurational, and Template-Induced Preorganization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The success of a given macrocyclization reaction involves a very delicate balance of many different factors. First, a proper understanding of the basic thermodynamic and kinetic concepts underlying these processes is essential in defining the strategies ...

A Highly Efficient Synthesis of Z-Macrocycles using Stereoretentive, Ruthenium-Based Metathesis Catalysts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A highly efficient, Z-selective ring-closing metathesis system for the formation of macrocycles using a stereoretentive, ruthenium-based catalyst supported by a dithiolate ligand is reported.

Purification and structure elucidation of three naturally bioactive molecules from the new terrestrial Streptomyces sp. TN17 strain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Thirty litres of fermentation broth was extracted from the newly isolated Streptomyces sp. strain TN17 and various separation and purification steps led to the isolation of three pure bioactive compounds (1–3).
