Clinical and laboratory predictors for bacteremia in critically ill calves
Abstract Background Sepsis is a main contributor to calf mortality, but diagnosis is difficult. Objectives Develop and validate a predictive model for bacteremia in critically ill calves (CIC). Animals A total of 334 CIC, sampled for blood culture. Methods Cross‐sectional study.

Maximal lactate steady state in swimming tethered [PDF]
This study investigated whether aerobic capacity (AC) in tethered swimming corresponds to maximal lactate steady state (MLSS) and its correlation with 30 min (V30) and 400m (V400) free swimming velocity.

Impairment of exogenous lactate clearance in experimental hyperdynamic septic shock is not related to total liver hypoperfusion [PDF]
Introduction: Although the prognostic value of persistent hyperlactatemia in septic shock is unequivocal, its physiological determinants are controversial.

Abstract This pilot study sought to explore the contribution of the large intestine microbiota to energy metabolism and exercise performance through its ability to degrade fibers into short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs). To investigate this, a correlational study was carried out on athlete horses under the same management conditions.

Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis in an adult patient with super‐refractory status epilepticus
Abstract This case report presents a 38‐year‐old male patient who, after a febrile infection, developed super‐refractory status epilepticus and multiorgan failure, and died in 2 weeks despite the best possible intensive care. Autopsy revealed findings suggestive of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH).

Analisy of lactatemia and subjective perception of effort of amateur football players
Introduction and objective: The high intensity included in football, demands high demands of the physical and motor components of the individual who practices it. In order to identify indicators of aerobic fitness, such as the lactate threshold, anaerobic threshold, minimum lactate and the maximum stable phase of lactate, the response rates of blood ...

French guidelines on TIPS: Indications and modalities
Abstract Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) has become essential in the treatment or prevention of portal hypertension‐related complications. In the early 1990s, the primary indication was refractory bleeding. It is now proposed for the treatment of ascites for the prevention of bleeding and in patients with vascular diseases of the ...
