Physico-chemical composition and antimicrobial protein content of early lactation donkey milk

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Studies, 2019
<p>The influence of early lactation on chemical composition and the concentration of antimicrobial proteins of donkey’s milk produced in Cyprus were investigated. Milk samples from 10 female donkeys in their first season of lactation were collected at 7, 15 and 30d postpartum.

A Novel Pak1 Activator Ameliorates ER Stress for HFpEF Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 60, 28 October 2026.
Chronic metabolic stress is a major contributor to HFpEF progression. Under prolonged metabolic stress, Pak1 activity becomes impaired, contributing to disrupted ER proteostasis, cardiomyocyte apoptosis, fibrosis, and diastolic dysfunction. Mechanistically, Pak1 overexpression activates the ERK1/2–MNK1–eIF4E signaling axis, promotes translational ...

Changes in milk composition of domestic Balkan donkeys’ breed during lactation periods

open access: yesActa Periodica Technologica, 2017
Changes in the milk composition during early, middle and late stage of lactation period were monitored in 10 individual autochthonous donkeys of the Domestic Balkan breed. Animals were grazing ad libitum during early and middle lactation, while supplements (meadow hay, corn and corn stalks) were added during the late lactation period.

O‐GlcNAcylation Stimulation Modulates Na+/K+ ATPase and Improves Outcomes in Hemorrhagic Shock

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Acute stimulation of O‐GlcNAcylation via NButGT injections in rats subjected to hemorrhagic shock improves hemodynamic parameters, reduces organ dysfunction, and restores ionic imbalance. These beneficial effects are notably mediated through modulation of the Na+/K+‐ATPase pump, highlighting O‐GlcNAcylation as a promising therapeutic target in ...

Dapagliflozin Attenuates NKCC2 Protein Expression and Alleviates Diabetic Kidney Disease in Salt Loaded‐Hypertensive Diabetic Db/Db Mice

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2026.
In salt‐loaded, hypertensive diabetic db/db mice with diabetic kidney disease, dapagliflozin lowered blood pressure and reduced tubular and glomerular injury. Mechanistically, dapagliflozin increased cullin E3 ligase abundance, promoting degradation of NKCC2.

An Acidic Tubulointerstitial Microenvironment Delays Cell‐Cycle Progression in Proximal Tubule Cells and Fibroblasts and Synergizes With Lactate to Drive Phenotypic Alterations

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 242, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is characterized by progressive tubulointerstitial inflammation and fibrosis, particularly affecting the proximal tubule. Both proximal tubular epithelial cells and interstitial fibroblasts contribute to CKD progression through cell‐cycle arrest and phenotypic transitions.

Plasma disposition, milk excretion and efficacy of mebendazole in lactating donkeys naturally infected by Cyathostominae

open access: yes, 2015
Therapeutics are administered to donkeys based on dosage and intervals recommended for horses because few drugs have donkey-specific indications. Although, mebendazole (MBZ) has been licensed for use in horses there are no data available regarding its ...

Ptbp1 Condensates With Phase Separation‐Like Features in Cardiomyocyte Nuclei Regulate Splicing of Proliferative Genes in Neonatal Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesDevelopment, Growth &Differentiation, Volume 68, Issue 8, October 2026.
Phase‐separated Ptbp1 droplets form molecular complexes containing multiple proliferation‐associated molecules. Ptbp1 granules containing four RNA recognition motifs (RRMs) domains are present in the nuclei of mouse cardiomyocytes specifically during the proliferative stage.

Mitral regurgitation and decompensated heart failure in a young pregnant pony mare: An aetiological challenge

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, Volume 38, Issue 10, Page e676-e685, October 2026.
Summary A 4‐year‐old, 6‐month pregnant, Welsh pony mare presented with severe acute clinical signs including depression, anorexia, pale mucous membranes, tachycardia with a grade 4/6 holosystolic murmur and moderate expiratory dyspnoea with diffuse wheezes. There was no evidence of placentitis or fetal distress.
