Associations between health disorders of French dairy cows and early and late culling within the lactation

open access: yes, 1994
International audienceData from an observational study, carried out during a 4.5 year period (1986-1990), were used to quantify the effects of health disorders on the risk of culling.

Genetic and physiological influences on the rumen microbiome and metabolic status in Holstein cows

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Metabolic disorders in cows occur when physiological metabolic processes are disrupted, often due to nutritional imbalances. These disorders can significantly affect productivity, particularly in high-producing dairy breeds, such as Holsteins ...

Palmitic Acid Promotes Antiviral Innate Immunity via ZDHHC20‐Mediated CMPK2 Palmitoylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metabolites have important functions in innate immune activation and regulation. Wang et al. uncover metabolic regulation of antiviral immunity through CMPK2 palmitoylation, which regulates CMPK2 mitochondrial localization and is promoted by ZDHHC20 but reversed by PPT1, inhibition of which antagonizes viral infection in mice.

Allosteric DNAzyme‐Enabled Sensitive and Multiplex Detection of Biomarkers for Rapid Diagnosis of Urinary Tract Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A catalytic allosteric DNAzyme assay (SMART) is developed by engineering DNAzyme into a unimolecular biosensor, enabling highly sensitive and multiplex detection of small molecules and nucleic acids. SMART enables extraction‐free, one‐pot, one‐step, isothermal, and cost‐effective detection of biological markers, achieving >95% accuracy for rapid ...

Lactation-induced reduction in hippocampal neurogenesis is reversed by chronic stress exposure

open access: yes, 2014
The peripartum period is a time of high susceptibility for mood and anxiety disorders, some of which have recently been associated with alterations in hippocampal neurogenesis. Several factors including stress, aging, and, perhaps unexpectedly, lactation

NET‐DNA Activates the ANXA2/TMEM215/BiP Axis to Promote Mitophagy‐Mediated Anoikis Resistance in Endometriosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NET‐DNA is enriched during early endometriotic lesion establishment and drives anoikis resistance by promoting an ANXA2–TMEM215–BiP axis. This pathway strengthens ER–mitochondria contacts, enhances PINK1/Parkin‐associated mitophagy, preserves mitochondrial homeostasis, and supports ectopic stromal cell survival, thereby facilitating lesion persistence ...
