Dataset for performance of superior dairy cattle sires based on daughter's milk yield in tropical country

open access: yesData in Brief
Sire has an important role because they could have more offspring than dam does. The research aims to determine the production performance of Friesian Holstein, estimation of heritability values, estimation of breeding values, and ranking of dairy cattle

Estimates of genetic parameters and genetic trends for growth, reproduction, milk production and milk composition traits of Awassi sheep

open access: yesAnimal, 2019
Genetic parameters and genetic trends for growth, reproduction, milk production and composition traits were estimated for Syrian (S) and Turkish (T) Awassi sheep and their crosses maintained at the International Center for Agricultural Research in the ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

The influence of metabolic hormones on lactation [PDF]

open access: yes
Lactation is regulated by reproductive and metabolic hormones, and critical for infant and maternal health. However, the range of hormones acting on the mammary gland, their mechanisms of action, and concentrations required for milk secretion are unclear.

Feeding High Energy Rations for Various Lengths of Lactation

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1974
Abstract Thirty-five Holstein cows were fed grain and hay to appetite and 13.6 kg of corn silage per day for the first 45 days of a 270 day lactation. Six cows were changed to 1.0 kg grain for each 3.5 kg of milk at each of 45, 90, 135, 180, and 225 days. Five cows received grain ad libitum for 270 days.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Estimation of lactation yield from incomplete lactation records

open access: yes, 1992
For estimating the lactation Yield of cattle and buffaloes daily milk is recorded at systematic time intervals during the entire lactation period for a sample of selected animals.

An Integrated Oxygen‐Supplying Device and Predictive Multiphysics Model for Extended Ambient Transport of Insulin‐Producing Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cell therapies typically rely on cold‐chain logistics and cryopreservation, limiting access and compromising cell quality. Here, a dual‐chamber device separates an oxygen‐supplying chamber from a hyaluronic acid cargo chamber, sustaining oxygen delivery for over 70 h and enabling ambient‐temperature shipment.

On the dynamics and selective transport of fatty acids and organochlorines in lactating grey seals (Halichoerus grypus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This thesis examines fatty acid (FA) and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) dynamics in a marine top predator, the grey seal (Halichoerus grypus,) and their transfer during lactation from mother to offspring.

Charge‐Polarized Ni─S4 Single‐Atom Sites Drive Selective Photoreforming of Poly(lactic acid) to Lactate and Hydrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomically dispersed Ni–S4 sites on CdS nanorods induce interfacial charge polarization, directing photogenerated electrons to H2 evolution and holes to selective ester‐bond cleavage of poly(lactic acid). Without sacrificial reagents, this charge‐coupled system produces lactate while suppressing overoxidation, achieving an H2 evolution rate of 41.74 ...
