Lactobacillus casei response to pteroylpolyglutamates

Analytical Biochemistry, 1972
Abstract The growth response of L. casei to pteroylpolyglutamates was investigated. The slope of the response curve varies with the number of glutamic acid residues present in the conjugate, becoming steeper for those forms with more than three glutamic residues. A greater concentration of these higher polyglutamates was needed for a given response

Lactobacillus casei LH23 modulates the immune response and ameliorates DSS-induced colitis via suppressing JNK/p-38 signal pathways and enhancing histone H3K9 acetylation.

Food & Function, 2020
Probiotics are thought to have immunomodulatory functions, improve inflammatory disorders and treat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Here, we screened a new probiotic strain with anti-inflammatory activity and investigated its effect on the immune cell ...

Phage Susceptibility of Encapsulated Lactobacillus casei [PDF]

open access: possibleNature, 1965
ONE of the principal factors which determines the susceptibility of a given bacterium to attack by bacteriophage is the availability of specific surface receptor sites. Numerous investigators have observed that encapsulated bacteria are generally phage resistant, and it has been assumed that the capsular layer, interposed as a physical barrier between ...

Diacetyl reductase of Lactobacillus casei

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1970
Diacetyl reductase (diacetyl:reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) oxidoreductase, EC. 1.1.1.5) has been isolated from Lactobacillus casei. Cell sonication, ammonium sulfate fractionation, Sephadex gel filtration, DEAE-cellulose chromatography, and alumina gel adsorption were used to obtain the partially purified enzyme.

The effects of 6-mercaptopurine on Lactobacillus casei

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1957
Abstract The inhibitory action of 6-mercaptopurine has been shown to be manifested by an interference with purine interconversion. The incorporation of adenine and of adenylic acid are affected in different ways by 6-mercaptopurine. These facts have been fitted to a schematic representation of a purine interconversion cycle compatible with the known ...

Effects of cell-free supernatant of Lactobacillus acidophilus LA5 and Lactobacillus casei 431 against planktonic form and biofilm of Staphylococcus aureus

Veterinary Research Forum, 2018
This study was carried out to investigate the stability, antibacterial properties and biofilm removal potential of cell-free supernatant (CFS) of Lactobacillus acidophilus LA5 and Lactobacillus casei 431 against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 ...

Genetic transformation of Lactobacillus casei by electroporation

Biochimie, 1990
Lactobacillus casei IAM1045 was transformed with a plasmid pAM beta 1-1, a tra deleted derivative of pAM beta 1, by electroporation. Effective transformation was achieved in electroporation buffers of a wide range of pH values, and in all phases of cell growth tested, with highest frequency in the early log phase.

Peptidase profiling of Lactobacillus casei

Biotechnology Techniques, 1993
Fifty four Lactobacillus casei strains were investigated and compared for their peptidase profiling by statistical analysis of aminoacids released from milk proteins. Forty one strains formed a homogeneous group; only two strains, not included in the above group, resulted the most suitable for grana cheese production either for their aminoacidic ...
