Cosmological constraints from angular homogeneity scale measurements

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
In this paper, we obtain new measurements of the angular homogeneity scale ( $$\theta _H$$ θ H ) from the BOSS DR12 and eBOSS DR16 catalogs of Luminous Red Galaxies of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.

From snapshots to continuous estimates: Augmenting citizen science with computer vision for fish monitoring

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 562-576, August 2026.
This study presents an end‐to‐end computer‐vision pipeline for monitoring fish migration using underwater video. We integrate field camera deployment, annotation, model training and automated in‐season counting to generate continuous, high‐resolution data on river herring spawning migration.

Pixel‐Level Inversion Assessment for Ageing of Composite Insulator Sheds of Power System

open access: yesHigh Voltage, Volume 11, Issue 4, Page 1021-1031, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The polymeric materials used in insulator sheds are prone to ageing under different environmental conditions, which can lead to flashovers and grid outages. The ageing process in composite insulators primarily involves changes in the microscopic properties of the materials.

Economic inequality and social mobility in preindustrial societies: What we know, what we don't (but should) know

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, Volume 79, Issue 3, Page 871-899, August 2026.
Abstract In recent years economic inequality has become a major research topic in economic history. However, much remains to be done to complete our knowledge of long‐term distributive dynamics. This article highlights several promising avenues for future research, focusing on the preindustrial period.

Superposed epoch analysis of high-speed-stream effects at geosynchronous orbit: Hot plasma, cold plasma, and the solar wind [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Superposed epoch analyses of magnetospheric plasma analyzer (MPA) data from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) satellites are performed to reveal the density, temperature and flow velocity behavior of the hot ion plasma (0.1–45 keV), the hot electron ...

Microglial Pruning of Excitatory Synapses in the Hippocampus Is Complement C3‐Independent in Physiological and Neuroinflammatory States

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 7, July 2026.
In development, microglia engulfment of hippocampal excitatory synapses is unperturbed in C3‐lacking mice. Peripheral inflammation induces a neuroinflammatory phenotype and synapse loss in the hippocampus independent of complement cascade activation. ABSTRACT A key feature of brain development is the refinement of exuberant synapses, known as synapse ...

Ladder-Type Polymers and Ladder-Type Polyelectrolytes with On-Chain Dibenz[a,h]anthracene Chromophores

open access: yes, 2019
The alternating copolymerization of fluorene and diethynyl benzene building blocks and postpolymerization electrophilic cyclization result in the generation of well-defined ladder poly(dibenz[a,h]anthracene)s (PLDBAs).
