Computational model of haemodynamics during atrial fibrillation

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend We developed a simplified computational model that replicates patient‐specific haemodynamics during both normal sinus rhythm and atrial fibrillation (AF). Our computational model comprises: (1) an electrical subsystem that generates unco‐ordinated atrial and irregular ventricular activation times characteristic of AF and (2) a ...

ODIN: Clustering Analysis of 14,000 Lyα-emitting Galaxies at z = 2.4, 3.1, and 4.5

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Ly α emitters (LAEs) are star-forming galaxies that efficiently probe the spatial distribution of galaxies in the high-redshift Universe. The spatial clustering of LAEs reflects the properties of their individual host dark matter halos, allowing us to ...

When Classicists Need to Speak Up

open access: yesÖsterreichische Zeitschrift für Geschichtswissenschaften, 2017
: This paper demonstrates that one should not necessarily make sharp distinctions between the constructionist and the essentialist view concerning the question of boy love in Antiquity.

Repositories of biocultural diversity: Toward best practices for empowering ethnobotany in digital herbaria

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 4, Page 1095-1103, July 2026.
Societal Impact Statement As herbaria digitize millions of plant specimens, ethnobotanical information associated with them is becoming increasingly accessible. These biocultural data include plant uses, names, and/or management practices of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs).

Connecting tradition and technology: The digitization of the ethnobotanical collection at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 4, Page 1104-1115, July 2026.
The digitization of RBetno (JBRJ) represents a step forward for biodiversity conservation in Brazil. Aligned with the Kunming‐Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (Target 2, 2020–2030), this project documents the use of plants, including traditional knowledge and vernacular names, with a focus on the Atlantic Forest and Amazon.

Life Cycle Environmental Impacts and Socio‐Economic Implications of Tidal Electricity Generation and Storage in the UK

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 6, June 2026.
If tidal electricity generation and storage replaced natural gas and battery storage by 2050, it could reduce the climate change impact of UK grid electricity by 71%, saving up to 4.4 Mt CO2 eq./y. Most other environmental impacts would be reduced by up to 24%. However, high costs and low public acceptability hinder its deployment. ABSTRACT Tidal range

Iuvenalianam satiram ultimam quemadmodum suppleverit C.Arrius Nurus

open access: yes, 2017
This contribution deals with the so-called Supplementum Iuvenalianum. With this supplement, the classical scholar, translator and Latin poet Harry C. Schnur (1907-1979) completed Juvenal’s last Satire, which breaks off in mid-sentence on line 60, with ...

A Spectral Atlas of Lyα Emitters at z = 5.7 and z = 6.6

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present two uniformly observed spectroscopic samples of Ly α emitters (LAEs; 127 at z = 5.7 and 82 at z = 6.6), which we use to investigate the evolution of the LAE population at these redshifts.

Integrated Metabolomics and Gut Microbiota Analysis Reveal the Intestinal Stress Response of Juvenile Four‐Finger Threadfin (Eleutheronema tetradactylum) to Nitrite Exposure

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2026.
Nitrite exposure induces intestinal stress in juvenile Eleutheronema tetradactylum, characterized by microbial dysbiosis, metabolic reprogramming, and altered digestive enzyme activities. Integrated metabolomics and microbiota analyses reveal coordinated hostmicrobe responses involving key pathways such as ABC transporters and amino acid metabolism ...

Zebrafish Embryos to Profile Nano(bio)materials: A Modular Platform for Developmental Toxicity, Neurotoxicity, and Inflammation‐Regeneration Assays

open access: yesCurrent Protocols, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Zebrafish embryos provide a rapid, low‐cost in vivo platform to profile the developmental, neurotoxic, and immunomodulatory effects of engineered nano(bio)materials within a single vertebrate system. This article presents a modular workflow that integrates standardized fish embryo acute toxicity (FET) testing, chemically assisted ...
