Phytochemical Analysis and GC-MS Determination of Lagenaria breviflora R. Fruit
The fruit of Lagenaria breviflora R. was obtained and subjected to methanol extraction. The chemical compound in the extract was analyzed using a Gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrophotomter (GC-MS). The screening of the fruit extract revealed important phytochemicals such as Phenols, Alkaloids Carotenoids and Flavonoids.

Free Radical Scavenging Potential and Bioactive Phytochemical Profile of Lagenaria breviflora
Free radicals which are normal byproducts of normal metabolism, can cause oxidative stress resulting in DNA damage and gene mutation. When there is an excess of oxygen or insufficient reduction, reactive oxygen species (ROS) like superoxide anions, hydroxyl radicals and hydrogen peroxide are produced.
