ABSTRACT Introduction and Aim Spatiotemporal and taxonomic sampling bias in biodiversity occurrence data poses critical challenges for robust ecological inference, species distribution models (SDMs), and conservation planning. Despite the exponential growth in global biodiversity records over recent decades, these biases persist.

Historical shifts, geographic biases, and biological constraints shape mammal species discovery
Taxonomic descriptions of mammals have become more robust from 1990 to 2025, with increased specimen sampling, broader comparisons, and more integrative methods. However, disparities remain: tropical and small‐bodied species are less comprehensively described, reflecting ongoing geographic and biological biases.

Elevation, rather than land use, causes important dietary shifts in the Mediterranean golden eagle
In an ever‐changing landscape, golden eagles in the Iberian Peninsula demonstrate remarkable dietary adaptability. We monitored 50 distinct breeding events over 4 years using camera traps, collecting over 520 000 images. Elevation, rather than land use, emerged as the main driver of prey composition: lagomorphs and columbiforms dominated at lower ...

Encephalitozoon cuniculi and Encephalitozoon hellem are fungus-related, obligate intracellular pathogens belonging to the microsporidia. Both microorganisms occur in mammals, birds and even humans, thus revealing a zoonotic potential.

Complete mitochondrial genome of the Arctic hare, Lepus arcticus
In this study, we report on the complete mitochondrial genome of the Arctic hare, Lepus arcticus (Leporidae; Lagomorpha) a large lagomorph endemic to the northernmost regions of Greenland. The complete mitogenome of L. arcticus was 16,972 bp long and was

The identification of pika and hare through tricho-taxonomy (Mammalia: Lagomorpha)
The macroscopic and microscopic characters of dorsal guard hairs of Indian lagomorphs (four species of pikas and three species of hare) are described; the cuticular and medullary characters are similar between the species studied.

ORDER LAGOMORPHA Brandt, 1855 Mammalogists previously united Lagomorpha with Rodentia as a single order (Carleton & Musser 2005). These two orders were frequently considered as a single cohort (Glires; Landry 1999) that diverged into two orders at the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary (Huchon et al. 2002).
