Long term changes in the fish fauna of Lago de Pátzcuaro in Central México
Fish assemblages of lakes from central México have been altered as a result of water over-exploitation, pollution, habitat fragmentation, and introduction of exotic species. Patterns and the extent of change in most of these systems are poorly documented.

A natural plankton population from the eutrophic lake Cacique Chiquichano, in the Argentine Patagonia, was monitored for one year to evaluate changes in photosynthetic parameters as a result of exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR, 280-400 nm), grazer ...

Primary production (PPr) is the energy fixed by autotrophic organisms. In aquatic ecosystems, it is mostly produced by photosynthetic processes performed by planktonic or benthic algae and macrophytes. In La Pampa, the ecology of shallow lakes has recently begun to be studied, but there is no reference inade to the algal PPr and how it is influenced by

The aim of this study is to compare the faunistic mollusk composition at a local scale, in different sites within a shallow lake, and to evaluate the relation between abundance and richness of mollusks and the environmental variables. The distribution of the mollusks within the water body was patchy but not random.

The Bajo Giuliani Lagoon (36 ° 42 ‘20’’ S, 64 ° 16 ‘ 02 ‘’ W) is located south of the city of Santa Rosa, La Pampa, which was stocked with fish during the late 90’s. In this hypertrophic shallow lake, major environmental changes caused mass mortalities of silverside Odontesthes bonariensis, the last one occurred in 2010.
