Left Wanting and Left Unheard: A Dual Grievance Model of Populism Across Six European Countries

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Social Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study tests a dual grievance model of populism by examining whether relative deprivation and external political inefficacy are linked to two core dimensions of populist beliefs (people sovereignty and anti‐elitism) via aversive political emotions (anger, sadness and fear) and institutional distrust across six European countries (N = 5487).

Theoretical and Experimental Stress Analysis of Cam With Simple Harmonic Motion

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2016
Cams are considered as one of the most important mechanical components that depends the contact action to do its job and suffer a lot of with drawbacks to be predicted and overcame in the design process.

Bridging computational and clinical strategies for presurgical identification of epileptogenic networks

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective About one third of epilepsy patients are drug‐resistant. Resective epilepsy surgery remains a key treatment option but depends critically on accurate identification of the seizure onset zone (SOZ), which is still guided mainly by subjective visual inspection of electrophysiological signals.

High-order Lagrange-Galerkin methods for the conservative formulation of the advection-diffusion equation

open access: yesIMA Journal of Numerical Analysis
Abstract We introduce in this paper the numerical analysis of high order both in time and space Lagrange-Galerkin methods for the conservative formulation of the advection-diffusion equation. As time discretization scheme we consider the Backward Differentiation Formulas up to order $q=5$.

Rocking and Rolling of Rigid Polygons Under Seismic Excitation

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present an event driven analytical framework for rigid cyclic polygons subjected to horizontal ground excitation in which uplift, impact, and successive pivot switching are treated within a unified non‐smooth dynamical description. Rolling is defined as a sequence of energetically admissible transitions between neighbouring vertices tied to

A new numerical technique to seek properties of the nonlinear oscillators

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control
Numerical methods are widely used in the area of nonlinear problems including differential equations. There are various integral transformations to study the frequency formulations and nonlinear solutions, but there are many types of transformations that

Immersed Boundary Projection Method for Boundaries With Slip Velocities

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, EarlyView.
A formulation of the immersed boundary method for incompressible flow over arbitrarily‐shaped bodies with surface slip described by the Navier boundary condition is presented. The wall slip velocity and the boundary force are determined implicitly through a projection to satisfy both the boundary condition and the divergence‐free condition of the ...

On the Lagrange and Euler variational formulations of linear ideal magnetohydrodynamics

open access: yesPhysics of Plasmas
Both the Lagrangian and Eulerian variational descriptions of the flow field are employed in classical fluid mechanics. In a magnetically confined plasma, the variational formulations become more complicated due to the presence of a magnetic field and the so-called frozen-in phenomenon.

Forecasting Volatility of Commodity, Currency, and Stock Markets: Evidence From Markov‐Switching Multifractal Models

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper adopts a bivariate Markov‐switching multifractal (BMSM) model to reexamine comovement in SV between commodity, foreign exchange (FX), and stock markets. After the 2007–2008 global financial crisis understanding volatility linkages and the correlation structure between these markets becomes very important for risk analysts, portfolio

On numerical methods for time-dependent eddy current problems for the Maxwell equations in inhomogeneous media

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки, 2018
E-based and H-based formulations for time-dependent eddy current problems for the Maxwell equations in inhomogeneous media have been derived. The concept of generalized solutions for boundary-value problems in bounded regions for obtained systems of ...
