Finite Element Modeling of a Thermoplastic Polyurethane Ball for Rolling Seismic Isolation
ABSTRACT The Elastomeric‐Ball Pendulum (EBP) system, which consists of an elastomeric ball rolling on a spherical concrete surface, has been proposed as an isolation system for lightweight structures. Experimental tests have shown that the mechanics of such a rolling ball are remarkably complicated because the vertical load changes the shape of the ...

A hybrid RANS‐LES turbulence model adapted for the Moving Particle Semi‐implicit method is employed to investigate a turbulent free surface flow. A method based on the cell‐linked list is proposed to speed up the nearest wall search for the turbulence model.

Generalized Poincaré algebras and Lovelock–Cartan gravity theory
We show that the Lagrangian for Lovelock–Cartan gravity theory can be reformulated as an action which leads to General Relativity in a certain limit. In odd dimensions the Lagrangian leads to a Chern–Simons theory invariant under the generalized Poincaré

ELECTROWEAK EFFECTIVE LAGRANGIANS [PDF]
In this paper I review several aspects of the use of effective Lagrangians in (mainly) electroweak physics. The conditions under which this approach is reliable and useful, as well as the limitations of the formalism, are detailed. Various applications are also presented.

Downdraft Devices for Negative Emissions—Quantification Study and Environmental Implication
ABSTRACT Methane (CH4) is a potent greenhouse gas with a global warming potential far exceeding that of CO2 over short time horizons. Its removal from the atmosphere remains challenging due to its low ambient concentration and chemical stability. This study explores downdraft energy towers (DETs) as an innovative CH4 mitigation technology that enhances

Lagrangian Modelling and Motion Stability of Synchronous Generator-based Power Systems
This paper proposes to analyze the motion stability of synchronous generator-based power systems using a Lagrangian model derived in the configuration space of generalized position and speed.

Classical Higgs fields on gauge gluon bundles
Classical Higgs fields and related canonical conserved quantities are defined by invariant variational problems on suitably defined gauge gluon bundles. We consider Lagrangian field theories which are assumed to be invariant with respect to the action of

It is known, though not commonly, that one can describe fermions using a second order in derivatives Lagrangian instead of the first order Dirac one.
