Gauss-Laguerre-Hermite method of keypoint extraction
Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis, 2011Keypoint detection and the descriptor construction method based on multiscale expansions of Gauss-Laguerre circular harmonic functions is considered. An efficient acceleration procedure is introduced. The procedure is based on the interconnection between the system of Gauss-Laguerre circular harmonic functions and the system of 2D Hermite functions ...

Numerical viscoelastic modelling by the spectral Laguerre method
Geophysical Prospecting, 2003Seismic wave propagation in a viscoelastic media can be described by a system of integro‐differential equations. The solution of such equations requires special methods when using finite‐difference techniques in the time domain. In the frequency domain, the integral terms are represented by complex elastic parameters.

Forward seismic modeling by the spectral laguerre method
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1998, 1998Summary The paper presents some efficient algorithms based on the spectral Laguerre approximations of temporal derivatives. The key to the efficiency of these algorithms is to construct new trial functions, which lead to the systems with sparse matrices.

Laguerre Spectral Method for High Order Problems
Numerical Mathematics: Theory, Methods and Applications, 2013In this paper, we propose the Laguerre spectral method for high order prob- lems with mixed inhomogeneous boundary conditions. It is also available for approx- imated solutions growing fast at infinity. The spectral accuracy is proved. Numerical results demonstrate its high effectiveness.

Accurate and practical method for characterizing Laguerre–Gaussian modes
Applied Optics, 2014We propose a new parameter, Q(p,l)(2), based on cross-sectional intensity distribution to distinguish Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) beams. Theoretically, Q(p,l)(2) shows an approximately linear dependence on the topological index in higher LG modes. Compared with the similar parameter Q(p,l) proposed by Long et al. [Opt.

On the Laguerre Method for Numerically Inverting Laplace Transforms
INFORMS Journal on Computing, 1996The Laguerre method for numerically inverting Laplace transforms is an old established method based on the 1935 Tricomi–Widder theorem, which shows (under suitable regularity conditions) that the desired function can be represented as a weighted sum of Laguerre functions, where the weights are coefficients of a generating function constructed from the

The Laguerre method for solving integro-differential equations
Journal of Computational Physics, 1985The Laguerre method proposed by Furmanski and Petronzio [Nucl. Phys. B 195 (1982), 237] is used to solve integro-differential equations found in high energy scattering processes and solid state physics. The method uses properties of Laguerre polynomials to convert the integral to a sum, while the remaining differential equation is solved analytically ...

Adaptive Laguerre-Gaussian variant of the Gaussian beam expansion method
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2009A variant of the Gaussian beam expansion method consists in expanding the Bessel function J0 appearing in the Fresnel-Kirchhoff integral into a finite sum of complex Gaussian functions to derive an analytical expression for a Laguerre-Gaussian beam diffracted through a hard-edge aperture.

Interval Root-finding Methods of Laguerre’s Type*
2003In this paper, several algorithms of Laguerre’s type for the inclusion of simple complex zeros of a polynomial are presented. These methods are realized in complex circular arithmetic and have the convergence order > 4. The proposed algorithms possess a great computational efficiency since the acceleration of the convergence is attained with few ...
