Human in the loop heterogeneous modelling of thermostatically controlled loads for Demand Side Management studies. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Demand Response (DR) is a Smart Grid technology aiming to provide demand regulation for dynamic pricing and ancillary services to the grid. Thermostatically controlled loads (TCLs) are among those with the highest potential for DR. Some of the challenges

Independent Wavefront Multiplexing with Metasurfaces via Non‐Injective Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 3, 13 January 2026.
In this work, a universal metasurface multiplexing strategy is presented based on non‐injective transformation. By jointly optimizing two metasurfaces, multiplexed channels achieve independent wavefront control, overcoming crosstalk limits of single‐layer designs.

Physical Interpretation of Diffractive Optical Networks for High‐Dimensional Vortex Mode Sorting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 1, 5 January 2026.
The first layer‐resolved physical interpretation of diffractive optical networks trained for high‐dimensional vortex mode sorting is presented, revealing transformation division phenomena linked to saturated performance as layer numbers increase. This analysis reconciles physical theorems with network operations, enabling physics‐driven design of ...

Thriving at Work: A Synthesis of Human Resource Management Perspectives and a Future Research Agenda

open access: yesHuman Resource Management, Volume 65, Issue 1, Page 133-149, January/February 2026.
ABSTRACT Thriving at work is a psychological state defined by dual experiences of vitality and learning. Existing research suggests that HRM practices can play a pivotal role in fostering employee thriving. In this perspective paper, we review the current literature on the relationship between HRM practices and employee thriving through five broad ...

Performance Analysis of the LDPC‐Coded Hybrid LQAM‐MPPM for UWOC Systems

open access: yesIET Optoelectronics, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
The effectiveness of LDPC codes in improving the performance of hybrid modulations is discussed, with coded 128‐QAM‐(12, 2) MPPM offering ~6.5 and 5.8 dB code gains at a BER of in strong and moderate turbulence, respectively. These results demonstrate the promise of hybrid modulation with LDPC as a robust and efficient modulation scheme for UWOC ...

Properties, mechanisms, and perspectives of ultrafast laser modifications in silicate glass volume

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Glass Science, Volume 17, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Ultrafast laser irradiation of glass enables highly localized structural transformations within the material's bulk, unlocking diverse applications in photonics, data storage, and microfabrication. Here, we provide a concise yet comprehensive overview of the main types of femtosecond laser‐induced modifications in silica‐based glasses (Types I,
