Alih fungsi lahan sawah menjadi lahan non-sawah dan lahan terbangun di Kabupaten Banjar dan Kota Banjarbaru merupakan isu signifikan akibat pembangunan infrastruktur dan perumahan yang pesat. Sekitar 6% lahan pertanian di Kabupaten Banjar menyusut setiap tahunnya, dari 320.325 hektar pada 2019 menjadi 319.766 hektar pada 2020.
