, 1995 태국 북부와 미얀마의 북동부 그리고 라오스의 서북부 및 중국 운남성의 남부 지역으로 이어지는 이른바 황금의 삼각지대 (Golden Triangle) 주변에 흩어져 사는 산족중에 라후(Lahu)족이 있다. 이들이 쓰는 언어 역시 라후어(Lahu)라고 한다. 이들은 농경과 아편 재배로 근근히 살아가는 국적이 없는 산족이다. 라후족은 언어, 풍속, 생활 양식 둥에서 인근의 태국인이나 라오스인, 미얀마인, 중국인 등과는 전혀 다른 고유의 특성을 보이고 있다.
